Seems awfully expensive for a straight alarm clock (or a non DAB/+ clock radio for that matter)

It has helped me become a morning person. I used to hate waking up to the sound of an alarm. Now I wake up to the rays of a fake sun and chirpy birds.

      • How long have you been using it?

Does it still work after the first two weeks of excitement?

        • +2

Girlfriend brought hers when we moved in. I found hers was more pleasant to wake up to than my phone alarm. Been using it for two years and feel much more energised with my mornings. Bought a spare just in case hers breaks.

I'm not sure it counts as a bargain if it's a terrible price.
RRP is $99US. Amazon.com sell it for $89.
Did you check how much it would cost for shipping redirection company to get it to Australia?

    • What exchange rate are you using?

    • +2

Just googling to convert the price shows $89 USD = $122.90 AUD. OP's price is AUD.

    • +1

$89 USD is $123 AUD. Same price as here. More when you factor in international shipping.

    • oh, i missed the 12.5% cashback.
      I guess it's somewhat comparable.

It's still a lot more than I paid for mine in 2014.

      • I guess it's somewhat comparable.

Mate its the exact same price as in US.

      • We had a favourable exchange rate in 2014.

        • Those were the times!

    • $89USD/$123AUD is the price without sales tax on Amazon.com

Shipping forwarder will be much more than $16AUD

Another way to do this is with a Lifx (or similar) bulb inside a bedside lamp, for about half the cost. You can program it via the app.

Here showing AUD75, not sure about the postage.

It's cheaper to just buy a LifX bulb. They have a wake-up function. Or do what I also do, sleep with the blinds open.

      😨

    • +1

I still need those chirpy bird sounds lmao

      • Get Google home mini or Alexa along with LIFX/yeelight

Or just get a real bird, window & a nagging wife to wake you up.

            @johnyBgood:

a nagging wife to wake you up

            Maintenance costs too high

            get a real bird

            Should be okay

Hi everyone, this can be replaced cheaply and easier.
I use smart switches on my bed side table lamps.

They turn on automatically 10 minutes before the alarm. Lights go on.
I wake up naturally before the alarm (the alarm is a backup).

The idea is that your body gets light and sends the command to the body/brain to wake up gently out of your REM cycle.

    It works.

Not to mention, your bed sides lamps are now voice activated with Google hom e, Alexa, etc.. or via the app.

I have one of these, HIGHLY recommend for anyone who has to wake up before sunrise, in a room without a window or change sleep patterns regularly. Couldn't believe how effective it is and if it breaks (over 2 years old no issues so far) I'll immediately buy another one.

    Especially wonderful for FIFO/shift workers.

When I use this 8/10 times I'll be comfortably awake well before it starts making noise.

is this Phillips one any better than this one?

Can't comment on the cheap ones as I only have the Phillips one, but the Phillips one seems like a good quality and reliable piece of kit. According to their website their product is clinically proven.

  • Expensive for an alarm clock that cant even do weekends and weekdays! The people who designed this doesn't live in the real world!

    • +1

How do you define real world?

      • +2

        Blue pill or red pill.

  • It's $149 now but it looks like it was $129 on Aug 10…
