  • In my view (see what I did there?)
    - OPSM are too expensive and don't offer anything that others don't provide
    - Specsavers are a bit cheap and a bit pushy

Your eye test should be free under Medicare. They should provide you with a detailed prescription on request.

I'm not in Brisbane, but you should be able to find a smaller chain that provides a good range of glasses. At the very least, if you get your prescription after the eye test, you can then look around for physical or online stores for the glasses.

    OPSM is a rip off

  • Do you have private health insurance?

    • I don't

Eye test should be free. Get your script and shop around for glasses. OPSM is very expensive

    • last time my friend bought a pair of glasses for her kid at OPSM but they did not provide the script. Last week, she went back to ask for the stript, they gave her without the PD measure, they said they can not provide as it goes with the specific glasses??? How come the distance of pupils is decided by the glasses

      • I have asked for my PD at OPSM when getting an eye test and they gave it to me no probs.

      • PD is different from frame to frame

        • UH wait what? Since when

I thought Pupil Distance is standard measurement to order any glasses..

      • I had the same thing happen to me at specsavers. Then had to come in to do second test because they didnt note the PD at the screening. Wasted 2hrs+ and two trips. Only good thing was they didnt charge me for second appt.

Free eye test anywhere under Medicare, then Specsavers has a small range of basic glasses at the cheaper end (under $100).

    • I just want cheaper shit to last me for 2 months. then i will get it for way cheaper from outside Australia.

      Thanks

Don't think I would want to put "cheap" and "eyesight" together.

When it comes to my eyesight, I am sorry, but that is probably the only area where I fail miserably as an Ozbargainer. Been going to an independent guy where I live for last 16 years, and he is fantastic. He is expensive, but his service and after sales care cannot be faulted. As well as that, he has no staff turnover, you see the same people every time and they know you.

  • Thanks guys

I have found $39 frame and glass at specsacers + eye test ($70 I dont have medicare). = $110 which is good deal for me.
