  • Crazy Price!

  • +1

    $34.76 if you pre-ordered with the APP15

    • What is the APP15?

    • +7

Thanks for the heads up! I pre-ordered RDR2 and then cancelled it because I got the JB Hifi XBox One X + RDR2 offer instead. Turns out preordering saved the $15.00 credit for me, so I applied it to preordering FO76 for $34.76 instead.

  • Free delivery to Prime members.

    • +5

It also free delivery without prime, since it over the $49 for free shipping.

      • Yep, just make sure you select Free Delivery at checkout and it will update to the proper price.

  • +66

Great price but calling it now, this game is going to be a dud.

Old engine, terrible performance, buggy as we expect, no NPCs, coming after RDR2.

    • RDR2 got too good reviews, fallout 76 definitely will suffer.

      • +11

Everything about Fallout76 screams "Expansion pack" if you remember the 90's

      • Not just the critically acclaimed RDR2 reviews. RDR2 sold so many copies, Fallout 76 will suffer (it is not just Fallout 76, other games releasing soon will also suffer).

    • I've never played a Fallout game. Why is no NPCs a negative?

      • +8

NPC's are one of the main reasons Fallout is heralded as much as it is.

        • +2

and the ultraviolence, before the franchise fell into Bethesda's hands and they went full Disney
Fallout 4's NPCs were bland and just plain uninteresting eg the Minutemen, stereotypical depiction of reporter and private eye

Sulik, Cassidy, whatshername wife from the little town in Fallout2, so much memorable team spirit moments

      • +3

Fallout games are known for giving you great freedoms to play how you want to. This was reduced in Fallout 4 and looks like it's happening even more in 76.

    • Agreed. Was thinking of cancelling my $54 preoder, but will stick with it now that it's down to $35.

      I miss Fallout 3!

    • +2

Dont forgot to add - Isn't Elder Scrolls.

    • +3

And the there is no security in the game at all. Everything is run from the client, so expect game breaking hacks in this ONLINE game from day one.

      • +9

You're not wrong, but that's not a reason to neg vote.

        • -2

Sure it is. In it's current state, there is absolutely no doubt that it's not of merchantable quality. The game is a complete disaster and you'd have to be mad to pay for it, if you have seen anything about it at all up to now.

      • +2

By the way, the packets are now encrypted.

I love the Fallout series and was excited when they first announced this.

Played the beta last week, it's terrible!
Gunplay sucks, AI is just bad, quests are really really boring and the whole game in general seems boring and grindy.

    • +5

I agree. This is a good price but I just can't pull the trigger because I have a feeling this game will be terrible.

    • +1

Wait, there are NO NPCs? NONE? So… is there a story or campaign or anything then? I don't follow, how is the game a game?

      • +1

Don't take my word on this but from what I've seen it seems to be a game like Rust…but fallout.

      • No NPCs, just terminals, holotapes and robots like Mr Handy to tell the story.

      • There are NPC enemies, and there seems to be story/quest lines through notes and things. It looks like the world hasn't been fully inhabited yet? I haven't watched enough to know, that's just speculation after watching a few of the beta streams.

    • +1

Played Beta was Trash.. no thanks

  • Should I bite the bullet and pre-order?

    • +25

      Nope. It's terribad.

On the other hand , a new overhaul mod for FONV was released , so that's something interesting.

      • Playing through TTW right now and having a blast. Havent played FO3 since release.

      • +1

Fallout New California looks great. I just have a back log of games to get through…

      • +2

whats the new overhaul mod? worth giving the original game another playthrough?

        • +1

It's Fallout New California, Google it. I think it is.
          A different story all together.

    • +1

      Absolutely not.

Other than the usual reasons for not pre-ordering, this game is horrible.
It has a major engine flaw allowing users to hack easily.

  • +21

    People still pre-order?

    Have we learned nothing?

    • Well I pre-ordered Forza Horizon 4 and it's great so YMMV..

    • I preordered RDR2 super cheap from Amazon and loved it. What was I meant to learn from that experience?

      • +2

RDR2 was bound to be okay with the amount of work that was put into it. Even if it was shit it was never gonna be that shit that you'd reget your purchase.
This on the other hand. Nope.

        • I’m not supporting Fallout 76. It will be garbage. But the initial comment was anti-preorder in general.

          • @[Deactivated]: Yeah I suppose. Everyone has mixed opinions on it. I for one think pre-ordering is ok but I still advise against it. RDR2 turned out ok, I imagine the next big game people will pre-order will be Cyberpunk 2077 - if they actually ever release it that is.
You're right. It may not be garbage (give it chance) but from what I've seen through gameplay videos it will definitely not please anyone spending more than $20 on it. Which is why I advise against buying this.

    • Pre-ordered RDR2 (traded in 2 games, paid $29 - had $38 unused EB games credit so might as well).

    • +1

I dont know why people pre order these days.

Before, for say limited editions I would say fair enough, there is a few of the. But now? They make so many.

Remember Halo 5 Collectors? Retailed for like….250-300….half a year later? Official MS store sells them off for $50 cause they had so many left.

So unless the Collector edition truly is very limited then fair enough. But outside of that no reason to preorder.

      • Pre-order special deals could make sense for some people. For me, for RDR2, I got rid of 2 games I don't care about (got 2 times the normal trade-in price EB would give me normally), plus I had unused EB games credits. I didn't need to pay any extra cent for RDR2.

So far, with RDR2, the OZB pre-order deals turn out to be fine (Amazon and EB Games trade-in ones).

  • +2

    I can't work out what "Edition: Amazon S.P.E.C.I.A.L" actually means/does/includes :|

    • +3

      Includes
      - Base Game
      - Exclusive Pin Badge Set

    • +2

You get a 'Special' set of pins.

  • -3

Only thing that kills this deal is the delivery date. 7-10 with normal shipping and 3-5 with Expedited. That means you don't get it till around the 17th at best.

    • +4

Amazon preorders arrive on the day of release. They’re shipped out before the game is available in stores. This is a reason why people often get access to games before they’re on the shelves – faster than expected postage.

      • When I preorder it, says it wont arrive until the 18th November. This is with prime expedited delivery?

      • I guess it depends a lot on the location. I got RDR2 almost a week after release. I am up in Cairns and all orders from Amazon take quite some time. Intersting enough shops like Myers, Crocs, SurfStich (just some recent orders) manage often enough to have things here within a day or two…

      • I noticed this isn't actually the official Bethesda Fallout 76 and is fulfilled by a different company - I wonder if that changes the date you will get it? Notice it's by ZeniMax but Amazon has a separate listing for the Bethesda one?

  • +2

did anyone else experience frame rate drops every 5 seconds on the ps4 with the last fallout game? it became unbearable for me after 2 days and returned it

    • +4

Yep. I upgraded to a PS4 Pro because of FO4. It targets 30 FPS but during gunfights in cities it becomes a slide-show and even just in the woods is usually sitting in the 20's.

      • No console (hell even my pc) can run their games smoothly without heavy patching/fixes.

edit: Should clarify that I meant they need to use a new engine. Been using this jury-rigged one since 2002.

        • Actually on the Pro it was 10x smoother despite the dramatically increased draw distances plus improved lighting and texture details. Tho I did play it a couple of years after it came out so would have been all patched up by then no doubt.

          • +1

            @Viper8: I meant 60fps with no drops.

30fps is not big deal considering how ugly the game is. It gets worse the bigger your save file gets.

And no, the game is not "all patched up". Ask the modders who are still patching it to this day….

            • @Ahbal: It kinda is actually given its being rendered at 1440p with a lot more of the bells and whistles seen on PC.
And given the extremely slow pace, locked-30FPS is adequate IMO.
Well it was patched up enough for me not to notice any issues on the Pro. Technically no 3D-game ever is truly flawless.

Point is, the difference between the regular PS4 and Pro is night and day, in terms of FPS AND visuals.

  • +6

Should have just added it to Fallout 4 as Fallout Online as DLC

  • Boom, got it!!!

  • +1

This game is online only, so make sure you have good internet and also paid subscription if you are after console copy (i.e. PS+).

  • +3

No idea why anyone would want to play this.

  • Not much confidence in this game. Not into the multiplayer exploration

  • +9

I spent a good few hours in the BETA.

It is MILES off being stable performance wise.

And thats not even getting into the gameplay. I hope you like listening to mundane holotapes, cause thats the extent of the story.

This should be FTP with microtrans for costumes etc. CHarging for this at its current state is rude, even for Bethesda.

    AVOID.

    • Haha I thought the same thing, viewd four separate reviews that weren't paid by Bethesda and they cant stand the beta with poor video options limited fps and boring holo tales as all the npcs seem to be dead lol

  • EB Games trade in price is probably going to be higher than this on release day

  • Does anyone know if this is a steam code or a physical disc (for the PC version)?

    • +4

The game is not on Steam.

Fallout 76, won't be available on the world's largest PC platform, Steam. Instead, Bethesda is releasing the game on PC exclusively through its own Bethesda.net launcher.

      • -1

        Yuck

      • +2

Lol it's like they're trying to make it fail.
Not only does it apparently run like shit on even the One X (can't imagine how it runs on the other consoles) but they don't release it on steam.

  • +10

You'd have to be pretty S.P.E.C.I.A.L to actually consider purchasing this game.

  • +10

    DO NOT PREORDER

Game comes out in a week and the B.E.T.A is a buggy mess. Wait a month or two and it might be worth buying then.

    • +5

I can't see the game being $49 anywhere in a month or two.

  • +2

Sad, I'm out. Game will suck.

  • +7

The fact that they are willing sell it for this price tells me all I need to know this game will flop. 6 months from now it will be $20, a year from now it will be $10

    • +1

If the servers are still functioning. There's no peer-to-peer (afaik) so if nobody plays it and it's not worth paying to keep the game servers running it's not unlikely that they'll shitcan it.

  • I was on the fence about this after playing the beta but having read how unsecure and open this game is to exploit I've kind of lost interest. Maybe in 6 months?

  • Preordered! how do I get my BETA code now??

  • +1

Fallout 76 graphic sux, compare to RDR2.

    • Oh I couldn't care less about each game trying to beat the previous in regards to graphics. If its fun I'm sold. This game sadly, is neither.

      • +1

Yes but since the graphics are so bad you would atleast to expect it to run smoothly…..but it doesnt.

If the graphics are going to be subpar at least have it run very well.

  • I played the pc beta over the last few sessions. Its a fun game. If you like fallout games. $50 is cheap. My pre order from Oct 25, was automatically adjusted to this new price. Down from $62

  • +5

I dont mean to upset anyone, while this is a good deal in the sense of a new release game—the game itself is terrible.

Very buggy, game speed tied to fps (higher the framerate, the quicker you melee for example, or slower fps, slower melee etc).

Graphically its terrible (no surprise though, im sure we all know).

Performance sucks considering how ugly and outdated the game and its assets are (RDR2 can run stable 30fps on console, but 76 struggles to keep a solid 30 on one x? Even with disgusting textures?).

I know people dont like others telling them how to spend their money, but unless you want to waste time with a broken product….

Side note/my opinion: My bet is this game will go free to play or extremely cheap (like D2). Very quickly. Dont encourage shit business. Bethesda has been using this engine since 2002. I say that as a modder who has modded every game since and including morrowind. I cant imagine playing a bethesda game without patching it myself. In 76 I cant even change the fov. Its disgraceful.

  • will cash rewards track the preorder?

  • +3

Do yourself a favor and just buy Fallout New Vegas for $5 instead.

    • +1

And play the new California mod :)

  • The only games I'd pre-order are ones that are guaranteed to be good based on previous entries. I've only ever pre-ordered 3 games in my life. RE4 on the Gamecube. A timeless classic. The Evil Within (because it was a Shinjuku Mikami game). Fantastic game and truly Resident Evil at heart, but I regret pre-ordering it only because I didn't get around to playing it straight away, and it dropped in price because it's a Bethesda game. Will never pre-order a Bethesda game again. The third game? RDR2 for $47 the other week.

  • +1

I thought this was another release like Fallout Vegad and Fallout 4 were if its online only with a bunch of idiots from around the world, then I'm not paying.

  • +1

Great price but would never pre-order a game that could very well be shit.

  • Wow, that's a really good price.

  • +2

I'm a huge fan of the Fallout series. Uge! (Trump voice)

But when I played the beta… my heart broke. This is a terribad game. Like, I won't even play it if it was free bad :(.

All the best things about previous Fallout games (story lines, developed NPC's etc), are GONE. This is a multiplayer fest, and if like me you don't give a crap about multiplayer anything and just want to experience the apocalypse in peace by yourself, then this is NOT the game for you.

When they first announced Fallout 76 I was soooo excited. I love massive single player freeplay worlds (Oblivion, Skyrim, KOTOR, previous Fallout games etc)… but they've truly stuffed this one for sure.

A damn shame. So much potential :(.

Don't buy it sight unseen, even at this price.

    • +1

Thanks for the quick synopsis. I'm definitely like you in terms of RPG gaming. Don't care for multiplayer and just like to explore the world alone (and with my sometimes obedient NPC). :)

  • Nice one, my pre-order started at $69 on Amazon a while back and it is on $49 now.

Roll on Wednesday. Will get a last Beta session in on Friday before work.

  • Good deal but I will not support preorders.

Read the reviews first before supporting developers. This is looking like a bad game and I'm not going to pay for bad games.

  • +1

    Jb will also pricematch this

  • Will that price go higher once the game is actually released? Would prefer not to preorder.
