Optus: Any success switching plans without a fee?

I recently signed up for one of the data plans - $60/month for 200GB of data. Then noticed that I could have gotten a Tab S4 with if as well if I got the 24 month plan.

Talked to a rep today and was told that I would have to pay some ridiculous amount in order to extend my contract…

Has anyone managed to get the fee waived?

    Several people were able to on that post. They were treated as recontracting as it was 12 vs 24 months.

      Thanks I missed that in the thread. I think the rep I got was just grumpy. Lots of terse replies and refused to budge.

      Yes but I am extending the contract. Doesn't make any sense for the business to reject a request for an even longer one.

      Anyway I got it sorted.
