Cheap/Free Christmas Ideas

Last year I printed a letter from Santa for my 3 year old which she loved getting in the mail.
I believe Harvey Norman does 1 free photo with Santa.

Any other free or cheap Christmas ideas?

  • One housing area I know does massive Xmas decorations outside their houses. If you are around Blacktown NSW I can tell you where it is.

A night out in the cbd would be worthwhile. You can check out the Myer windows, view the Christmas projections the City of Melbourne put on and have a look at the Christmas tree and giant bauble.

Go to the library and get some books fir your child on what Christmas is all about as unfortunately retailers have hijacked it.

Each year my appreciation for festivus day gains

A Festivus for the rest of us!

My Christmas 'tree' is always a bundle of fallen tree branches that I find in the park or by the roadside. Either paint them white or wrap in alfoil. Add some decorations and lights. Always looks effective and costs nothing. Allow your kid to help make it and decorate… they love that part!

Do you collect road kill also?

      • Boil the head and tail for the gravy. Great dinner to be had at Sweet3st's place.

  • Cheapest way to do Christmas is to not do Christmas.

    • Second best way is to do it a few days later and take advantage of post-Christmas sales

Perhaps need to be more specific. For the 3 year old ? Or ???

Plenty of things that are free/cheap all year round, including Christmas time.

For kids/families, I think season passes can be great value if you have somewhere nearby. Eg. Season pass for Jamberroo Action Park (near Wollongong) is about $120 , if you go 20 times in the year, works out just $6 pee visit.

Visits to beach, playgrounds, parks, all free and great for kids and adults.
