While this is a good price for this brand (thanks op), a true ozbargainer would take one and a third panamax tablets (which are max $2 a box, even when not on special) instead.

    • While i agree, people do like branded products (even though it's the same same).

      • These "people" of which you speak have no place on ozbargain :)

      • The active ingredient is the same, but there are additives that assist in the mechanism of the drug that may be different.

  • and no gluten, lactose or sugar

The users are probably consuming all three of those things in large amounts due to their diet.

They all cause inflammation which will exacerbate arthritis but their GP will not have discussed this with them because linking food to health is just crazy. It would greatly affect the pharmaceutical business profits if that ever happened because people might get better without a pill.

      They all cause inflammation

False. Unless you're lactose intolerant and/or have celiac disease, or have an auto immune disease potentially triggered by those substances.

      will exacerbate arthritis

False. Osteoarthritis isn't affected, and rheumatoid arthritis will depend on individual immune hyper response.

GP will not have discussed this with them

False. GPs regularly check for hypersensitive response in patients with rheumatism.

  • This is not interchangeable with regular Panadol/paracetamol for acute pain/discomfort.

    • How is paracetamol not the same as paracetamol? Slightly higher dose, that's it.

      • +1

This is a controlled release. It's for chronic pain where patients are on paracetamol for weeks/months/years. The dosage is taken to maintain the level of paracetamol already absorbed.

If you're taking this for acute pain, you'll be waiting for ages. Most patients would at this point take a second, third or fourth dosage purely because the first hasn't taken effect.

        Liver goes :(

Cue the posters on the previous Panamax deal explaining the dangers of paracetamol use and regurgitation of their pharamacolgy 101 textbook.

I'm no pharmacy student, but have you ever seen someone crook from paracetamol overdose? I have - I can assure you it's not pretty. Stick to the recommended dosage people. It's there for a reason.

      • Yes I have. I’ve seen many many many take no responsibility for their health and needing help when things go south. From overdosing (both acute and chronic) to smokers who continue to smoke and drinkers who continue to drink. It isn’t pretty.

I’ve also realised that adults can choose to do whatever they want to do (within reason). The best advice is often unheeded. That is the most frustrating thing of all
