Affordable door handles to replace old ones

Just looking to to replace the old and broken door handles in my unit. Are the cheapest door knob and handles from Bunnings a bad idea? They look fine but I'm not sure about quality. Wouldn't mind paying a bit extra for door handles if it means better quality but then again… they are they just door handles.

Any recommendations or better places to buy them from?

  • I had a Ikonic brand entrance door handle broke just after one year. Rubbish. Then went and got a Lemaar. Feels much more solid.

  • For the main door, I'd get the strongest that I could afford.

For internal doors where security is no issue, anything goes - any handle will be good enough. You could glue a stick to the for and it wouldn't matter. Whatever it is just needs to able to withstand the push and pulls of daily usage.

    zip ties
    .

  • I've got cheap Bunnings ones. They work , just noisy / squeaky. Also not sure about longevity.

    • Is it anything that some WD40 can fix?

Report it to your landlord or strata if you are renting. Don’t repair it yourself.

Outside that, if it’s your front door, for god sake, put some decent door furniture on there. Kaba or Lockwood is a good start. Don’t lock your place up with garbage, cheap tier stuff.

Inside the house, who gives a rats. It’s a longevity thing. You can spend lots now and nothing for years. Or you can skimp now and replace it again in a few years.
