Cost-Effective Muay Thai in Brisbane

I'd love some advice and feedback from OzBargain on what my expectations should be in terms of pricing for a cost-effective Muay Thai or Boxing Gym that are within the surrounds of the Brisbane CBD. I've had a look around and on average, they're about $20 per week, or $20 per session.

Might be incorrect to compare them to Karate schools, but I've found Kyokushin dojos catering to adults to be priced at around $40 - $50 per month, and that's with an open door policy as to when you can train.

Any suggestions or pointers as to where I can start my search? I've already gone through quite an exhaustive search but maybe someone on the forums will be able to point me in a better direction.

You may want to consider more than the monetary cost when thinking about training. How good the school is (quality of instructors/peers), how well equipped they are (pads/mats/bags in good condition), and how convenient travel to/from the place is are all just as important.

    • Agreed, I should mention that the Kyokushin one I vetted wasn't a McDojo. It was cost-effective and I also sat and observed two of their sessions last week. So I guess with that addendum, that I am looking for a decent place to train, I'd also like to see if there's any Muay Thai gyms around that follow a similar pricing schedule like the Kyokushin one did.

But thank you for your comment, am definitely not seeking bottom dollar if it means I don't learn the fundamentals properly.

  • if you were in Redcliffe then I'd suggest K.O. martial arts. was $7 a session when I was going there 2 years ago.
