Which Is The Best Powerbank for OnePlus 6?

Got my new OnePlus 6 yesterday and just wondering which powerbank would charge it the fastest?

Thanks.

  • Any of them - there are no Dash Charging power banks.

  • +1

There are no official power banks from OnePlus that support Dash Charge. This one however does support Dash Charge @ 4A.

It claims to ship to Australia but I don't know if it would get through customs so it might be available elsewhere.

    • Wow. Didn't know there were third party dash options.

      • Years ago Oppo released a 6000mAh VOOC charger with micro USB and a Type-C adapter made it Dash Charge an Oppo. Unfortunately it's discontinued and near impossible to find.

Another 3rd party power bank is the BAOZU M1 10000mAh which supports Dash, VOOC, Huawei FCP/SCP, QC 3.0, QC 2.0, Samsung AFC, MediaTek PumpExpress/PE+ aaaaand BC1.2. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find that one outside of Asia.

    • Why would it not get through customs?

      • Because they're idiots and have been blocking them for months. Noticed how almost no Chinese sellers are posting power bank deals? It's brought up quite regularly.

        • Hmm maybe ill buy that powerbank you linked from there eBay listing they sell on there also. Might be safer if it doesn't show up.

          • @Axelstrife: Tends to be more a shipping issue rather than a customs one as far as I'm aware. Lithium batteries are essentially small bombs and most shipping companies want nothing to do with them. They have the tendency to explode into flames without needing a source of ignition when hit hard or stabbed. Knowing how gentle the postal services are… well the risk is there. The lost money in not shipping them is well and truly covered in not losing planes and staff. It's all the same reason you can't get on a plane with a battery bank in your checked in luggage and the airlines have strict policies about the capacity of lithium batteries allowed. Overly cautious? Probably, but I'd also rather not die in a plane crash because some selfish passenger really wanted the extra life on their phone.

If the battery is in another device you can generally get away with it (guess the device acts as a form of armour for the battery) and some eBay sellers know ways to try and trick their chosen courier. Battery banks are generally not considered a battery inside another device. I have seen batteries arrive in small plastic cars designed to look like a battery powered device.

            • @OrderInWrongWordsThe: November last year Auspost released a statement stating that they allow lithium batteries to go through their postal network and through air. The issue was that customs were rejecting them and sending back to sender.

You'll find lithium batteries or cells in portable electronics. They're a dangerous good and present a fire and safety risk if transported incorrectly. Australia Post limits how lithium batteries can be sent, and you're required to send these items in compliance with Australian and international regulations.

What types of lithium batteries can be sent?
Regardless of what domestic or international mail service you use, Australia Post can only carry the following types of lithium batteries:

Lithium ion (rechargeable) - 20 watt-hour per cell or 100 watt-hour per battery
Lithium metal (non-rechargeable) - one gram per cell or two grams per battery
Lithium batteries can only be sent internationally (air or sea), or domestically by air if the battery or cell (maximum of two batteries or four individual cells) are installed in the device and meet all the packaging requirements.

Recalled, damaged or non-conforming cells or batteries are also prohibited from being sent by Australia Post.

  • I just came across this one on AliExpress - it's Oppo VOOC compatible - 5V, 4A, 20W - so I think that makes it Dash compatible too: https://a.aliexpress.com/_dUDdVpP. I've got an Oppo Reno Z & have been looking for a fast charging option to replace my Xiaomi powerbank for ages! I haven't pulled the trigger & bought it yet though - I just came across it in my searching after reading this post.
