Able to be banned from Select threads?

Just realized I can't reply to the KFC thread, nor vote on comments in it, despite not being sin-binned or banned in any other way.

Is this a new functionality/policy/rule? I hadn't realised you could be banned from specific comment threads (and/or bargain threads?)

closed Comments

  • The answer is yes and moderators have had this functionality for several years.

Before we had this functionality, when comments were removed due to personal attacks, inappropriate, inflammatory, the user would come back and continue to make the same comments/paraphrase the previous comment/etc. It's also quite handy when 2 users are fighting in the comments. Sometimes people get heated and this is just a way for them to walk a way.

    • Fair enough - I get it'd be useful at times. I guess I hadn't seen that happen before (though thinking about it I'd have no idea if others were thread-banned). Thanks for the clarification! Consider the question asked and answered I guess.

Should have banned him from the watch stealing post then, not the KFC one…hahaha

  • Yes, it's nothing new.

Aw, what did stupid sexy Flanders say?!

    • Told OP to go contact Hungry Jacks. And then chargeback.

In any case I wasn't wanting to reply to him, I really wanted to reply to OP to say that wanting a refund of the $10 isn't ridiculous at all and that's not what I meant (I mean he effectively got double-charged, that's not spare change) - just that it's such a longshot in the circumstances that I personally would've written it off because I'm just lazy like that.

People think I'm mean enough without thinking I'm being mean when I actually wasn't…

      • Well then, that seems a bit OTT to block you…

        • Oh that wasn't all - they deleted the comment, and then I left a snarky comment saying "Aww you deleted your comment, you seemed so confident" or something like that.

I don't actually mind the thread-ban, I just honestly didn't know it was possible.

      • Wrong thread

    • Then proceeded to call the people who replied saying he got the wrong store was high xD

      • It was rather unfortunately coincidental that my username is highanddry and the other person who replied had a username of st0n3r (or something like that)…

        • Yes it's me, hello "husband"!

Not sure what our alleged recreational activity had anything to do with the topic on hand.

          • @Pecan: Haha yeah that was weird. Well since we're here, a/s/l? hmu bb?

(is that how the trendy people do it these days?)

            • @HighAndDry: Asl I remember, but hmu bb? Nfi what that is.

              • @Pecan: Actually now that I think about it, asl was from basically before myspace days. What do the cool kids say these days?

                • @HighAndDry: Asl was from IRC days.
I'm not a cool kid, just add clueless as you are.

                  • @Pecan:

                    Asl was from IRC days.

You might be betraying your age there haha, I don't think anyone under the age of… what, 20? even knows what IRC is these days. Those were good times though. ICQ, AIM, MSN messenger…

                    • @HighAndDry:

                      ICQ, AIM, MSN messenger…

Had all of those, and yes good times. Powered by dial up internet. Life was simpler back then.

                      • @Pecan: Yeah. Sure as hell spent less time glued to screens compared to now.

                    • @HighAndDry: Most people under the age of 40 can't tell you what IRC is.

  • You blabbed Quaid. You blabbed about the 11 secret herbs and spices.

  • Can we ban JV from commenting on everything

    • +4

      It's possible

    • +5

No, because for every 5 bad comments, there's 1 good one

      • +5

I would say more like one in twenty comments

        • +2

One quality comment rule them all.

          one in 14673.33

    • I enjoy reading all JV's comments, some people take it to serious though

  • I didn't know this either

  • I seem to be banned from commenting on this thread.

    Don't know why…

  • This thread has gone way off-topic. Thread answered, comments closed.
