Spreadsheet for Power Company Comparison with Solar in Vic Ausnet

Hey all, looking at the latest “deal” for 9saver Origin Energy, I have created my own spreadsheet for comparison. I have solar at home so this will not be that useful for those without. Currently contains AGL Solar Savers, Globird Glosave, Origin Energy Solar Boost and Tango.

Easiest way to look at it now is the medium solar generation. I have it multiplied by 365 days so it’s what you will be paying per year.

Couple of assumptions:
6kWh average usage daily from grid.
13kWh average feed-in daily to grid.
Rest of usage is from solar.
Feel free to adjust to fit your own usage and feed-in.

This is only for Victoria with SP Ausnet. All prices are GST inclusive and discounts added.

Hope this helps and don’t forget to share your comments.

  • Does it include tax?

    • If you mean GST, yes it's already included and discounts applied.

  • Instead of using high, medium, low… you can get a smoothed annual view, by applying the universal daily solar generation multiple (system size * 4), then apportioning a usage percentage.

    E.g a 4Kw system X 4 = average 16 kWh generation per day over the year

    Solar usage percentage = 60%, so feed in is 40% x 16 KwH X feed-in tariff x 365

  • Use the government's comparator (https://compare.energy.vic.gov.au/) and send them your smart meter file for a result exactly fitting your usage (by the half hour), and get yourself $50 just for using the comparator.
The only thing to watch is that the comparator may recommend a peak-shoulder-off peak tariff that Ausnet Services may not support for your meter type.
