thats exactly what I thought
maybe it needs the latest software to run at optimum fan speed
or maybe the manufactureer will slow it down deliberately to make you buy another one

I’m a huge fan.
Just checked at Wangara, doesn't appear to be any of the 'older' ones on clearance, could only find the $8.95 version.
How could it be classed as last years model? Surely desk fans don't change that much
