  • I don't think it is exclusively for Amazon Prime members, happy to be corrected though and will update the deal accordingly.

    • +2

It is for any Amazon AU account that has not previously trialled a free Audible AU subscription.

      • Cool, thanks for confirming.

      • I might give it a go when I get home. Only signed up to get the echo dot earlier, but that wasn't a free trial (had to pay the full $16.45).

        • I too did that, I too will try when I get home. If you beat me home, can you let me know please :)

        • If you've paid the $16.45 then you are already a subscriber. By all means try the deal link but I don't think you'll get a free 3-month trial with this.

If you are eligible, the page reads "Try Audible free for 3 months. For a limited time only!".

If you are ineligible, the page reads "Experience stories like never before. Get one audiobook of your choice per month. Audible is $16.45/mo."

@alvian: I cancled my paid membership already and I never took a free trial, so I'm golden as it says 3 months free.

            • +1

@Nalar: I took many free trials and they don't seem to care. Successfully got this one with no charge to card. These are my 8th - 10th free audiobooks.

I stopped feeling sorry/guilty on anything Amazon since they are way too rich to care. Bring on the freebies!

      • Wonder of that would work for us … I took out a free (30 day only) Amazon Prime account the other week… for the free Xmas gifts postage. Don't recall any emails etc. regarding Audible; but not to say there was not.

Wonder if I could install the free books on a Kindle? If you can … would someone advise steps (not my Kindle) please?

        • +1

Now I am confused. Kindle is an eBook reader with no audio capabilities, yes? Audible sells audiobooks so how will a Kindle handle them?

          • @alvian: I was thinking along those lines too. I don't know much about this Kindle Paperwhite my Mother has; am far more confused than I care to admit! Am completely in the dark here. Perhaps new Kindles would be developed to have audio?

            • +1

@JediJan: Here is the answer from Audible. External Bluetooth headphones or speakers, or Kindle Audio Adapter may be required.

This is the limit of my knowledge about Kindle (as I have never used one), so please do you research before committing to any purchase.

              • @alvian: Thank you; very useful info. 👍 A Kindle Audio adapter may actually be pretty useful. The Kindle Paperwhite is not that old so not due for replacement.

The again she has a Lenovo tablet (only uses for free Spotify music), tgat she could also use. She use bluetooth headset for tv listening so possibility they may connect to Kindle also. We will have to look into these

                • +1

@JediJan: In that case simply install the Audible App on her tablet. No need to buy another gadget: How to listen to Audible

                  • @alvian: Thank you.

Mother has a computer also, likes to just keep the tablet for streaming Spotify music, but I am sure she could use the Audible app easily enough also. Doesn't like too many tech gadgets but she has more than I; I only have a Galaxy mobile!

  • I had joined this to get echo dot but I just don’t like the audible thing.

    • +1

What don't you like about it? I think it is a great service. Just wish it was $5 a month instead lol

    • +1

audible is good, just bit too expensive imo. $5-6/mo is the sweet spot for me instead of $16.45. Since audible I’ve been reading many books than I ever did before… you will need a good headset from
      my experience. (nm or anc)

  • Created a new Amazon acct and tried to add audible via the link.
I'm getting "Sorry! An error occurred while processing your purchase"
    Anyone having better luck?

    • Same issue for me

      • I did eventually get this sorted by using a current valid credit card

  • worked like a charm, on an existing amazon account

    *not a prime member either

  • Hi All,

Last week, I installed Audible app from Play Store in my phone, then got two free audible books. This account seems belong to Amazon.com (not Amazon.com.au)
I have just click the link provided by OP, and have another account (with 3 month free fees), got 1 credit. It means that I can have another 3 books in the next three months.

I would like to ask you guys:
    - Is it possible to combine two libraries from two account together, so that I can have 5 books in one?
    - Now if I cancel my membership from Audible app in my phone, how can I log in with my new Aussie account?

    Thanks a lot.

    • +1

I used the same email and credit card for both account.

    • +2

Log out from one account and sign into the other. There is an option on the log in page to change marketplaces and it doesn't delete the books (I download them all to my phone though, not sure if you'd be able to stream one account books while logged into the other).

      • Great to hear that.
        Thanks a lot bro.

    • What others said, and there is way to transfer your us account to au through migration. I’m not sure how it would work when you have both accounts though. Best to reach out customer support.

There is a note that says its temporaly disabled till later this year. https://audible.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8288/~/…

  • How do I cancel the membership after end of trial?

    • +1

Note: Be aware that you cannot cancel your membership on the Audible applications or on the mobile site. You can only cancel the membership from the desktop site. Deleting the Audible app from your device does not cancel the membership

    • +1

You want to cancel the membership BEFORE the end of trial period, otherwise you will be charged for the fourth month. Just make sure you have claimed your last audiobook because you lose access to your credit as soon as you cancel.

      • Tip. I tried to cancel the subscription and they throw in an additional credit in the first month to keep me subscribed. I think you have to spend the first credit though, before getting the second credit.

  • +3

Scribd has 60 day free trial and has unlimited audiobooks..

  • So, suggestions for my next 3 books?

I already purchased "Why we sleep" by Max walker. And have probably locked in Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari thanks to Joe Rogan.

    SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT!

  • Anyone know if you can migrate your old amazon USA into this account later? I've been waiting months to be able to migrate, you used to be able to but you can't atm

    • yes and no.

Online libraries stay separate. All downloaded contents from US account will show up in your app after you re-login with your AU account. Hope this helps.

  • Not sure if I got suckered by Bezos or signed up at the wrong place, but I got charged $16.45 up front and have another $1 transaction from Audible.

    • +1

The $1 is credit check, it'll fall away eventually
