Best 40" - 44" 4K TV Option

I am looking at getting a TV by Christmas.

I was thinking of getting either this Samsung or this LG. I was leaning towards the LG.

Right now JB have this TEAC for a pretty great price. $448 down from $898. This sale ends tomorrow.

Obviously the TEAC won't come close to the other two, but the price difference is tempting.
I plan to use the TV for FHD content as well as UHD (Blu ray and Netflix). I would be gaming on it occasionally so input lag might be an important factor.

Should I wait for one of the other TVs to go down in price for Black Friday/Christmas or jump on this deal while it's here?

EDIT: There is this Kogan TV for a similar price to the TEAC.

Have you considered getting a 4K tv from Kogan 43" smart Tv for only $389 + delivery and it's using an LG panel? Plus you can earn Qantas points on your purchase if you are a point collector.

    Hope that helps, Josh.

    • I'll take a look at it. Thanks :)

    • After postage, the TEAC comes to a slightly lower price than the Kogan. Do you think the Kogan TV would still be a better purchase?

      • The TEAC Tv does include Dolby Vision technology which means the tv would deliver greater HDR content if that makes a difference for you, however, it is to be noted it is not a difference you would've noticed until I pointed it out.
There is not a very noticeable difference between the TVs because of the TEAC being $450 off plus no shipping if you collect. I think go for the TEAC.

  • The LG tv will be on Black Friday.
Prices won't be that good until boxing day.

    • Good to know. Thanks

  • I just bought the Nu7100 55" for $890~ (ebay will be much cheaper then JB. Appliancesonline or video-pro store)

    Highly recommended.

Also have a Kogan 55" curved 4k. Highly recommended.

If you aren't the type to inspect each pixel with a magnify glass. I'd just go with a Kogan or other cheap branded 4K TV.

To put it simply, my kids who do look at the detail. One prefers the Samsung one prefers the Kogan (for gaming)

  • OP, do you have the space for a 55" TV?
The reason why I ask is that the price for a 55" is similar to the 43" TV's
Obviously you are getting more TV bang for buck and furthermore, you can get a better bargain for 55" as they are more abundant.
    I mean $1K for a 43" TV is a little ludicrous tbh.

1 - IMO Kogan, Teac, JVC, Bauhn, Soniq are only good for computer monitor as the images are washed out a little and there are reliability issues hence avoid.
2 - Samsung is better however there are reports regarding a Pseudo HDR format on earlier models.
3 - LG TV's are good however suffer from DSE (pls google it) and has an IPS monitor.

I would opt for an LG as they are more abundant hence can bargain more, fast enough for gaming, image is good generally and on angles (IPS) however has DSE.

    Cheers

    • I'm pretty sure 55" would be too big, I'd have to remeasure. Thanks for the help

    • Depth and height shouldn't be an issue, but I've only got 85cm to fit the stand and 115cm to fit the width of the tv.

  • Unless you plan to sit 1 metre from the TV I'd try and find a 1080p TV that is bigger. You won't notice 4k whilst sitting further away
