Travel Insurance - One way flight

Hi,

I will be doing a trip across SE Asia for 4 months then settling in London (hence one way flight out of Australia). What's the cheapest way to get travel insurance? Are there any credit cards that provide travel insurance without getting a return ticket?

Thanks in advance.

I’d look around online and buy a policy for Asia, there is lots of conditions in credit card insurance, I’d be reading the fine print. It’s worth buying a premium imo, especially if your travelling to remote areas and doing adventurous activities, medivac is expensive.

  • You can buy annual policies, but read the PDS carefully - most only cover trips up to 90 days.
Consider that if you said you intend to return to Australia after 3 months, but then changed your mind at the last minute, you would have coverage for those first 90 days.
Coverage for the period after those 90 days until you are resident in London is a bit trickier, but 90 days is better than nothing.
Maybe there is an annual policy that covers trips up to 120 days, which would have you sorted.

  • Without a return ticket, 4 months? read PDS.
