Just tried with amazon Japan, still doesn’t work

    • Just curious, what do people purchase from Japan that isn't available from American Amazon? Manga, anime, Japanese music on CDs, action figures from Japanese franchises?

People have told me that it is very hard for non-Japanese people to purchase Japanese made music digitally; IP regional locks and JP only credit card locks. When it is much easier to pirate a product than to purchase it with a few clicks, companies have an extremely broken business model.

      • A lot of American music have Japan only bonus tracks- especially back in the day and even if it didn’t, I found that it was often cheaper to buy vinyls and cds there compared to amazon us or uk.

      • I buy Japanese books and some are quite heavy, so their fixed shipping rates help.

Anyone interested in getting free shipping using Prime on amazon.com.au for Amazon US products under $49, here's the well known hack.

Your best bet is adding a pre-release item that will be released far in the future with the item you want, that will bring the shipping above the required amount.

Check out then cancel the other item.

Shipping will not be added to your existing order.

    I've done this multiple times.

I have also heard this will work for local Amazon AU orders if you're not a Prime member, however you need to wait for your required item to ship before cancelling the pre-released item otherwise shipping will be added.

Thanks. I love it when people find these subversive ways of saving money and public share the secret.

  • What's the point when it's only eligible on "amazon global" stock items…. I hope they just put it back to how it use to be, is it really that hard to apply 10% tax on purchases…. they already do it for VAT in the UK and probably countless other regions..

  • I just tried yesterday, the ban was still there.

  • OH! It works now!!

  • Hi Tightarse,

It says Amazon cashback is only 8%, even though the offer has extended until 4pm.

Will the 11% be tracked correctly?

    Thanks for doing this offer.

  • So from what I can see, Amazon.com will only ship to Australia if the seller is Amazon Export Sales, anything sold by Amazon Warehouse Deals or Amazon.com Services, Inc won’t ship to Australian addresses.

What is going on? It’s sold by amazon, why the hell are those specific ones exempt?

    • You should jump on their live chat n ask.

Hmmm can't seem to purchase third party items that are being fulfilled by Amazon.

Even though they do say "item can be shipped to Australia" on the page of my search results.

We are currently unable to ship items sold by third parties to Australian shipping addresses.
Please check to see whether Amazon sells the item you would like to purchase or choose a shipping address that is not in Australia to proceed. Some restrictions may still apply depending on the item.

It's been well over a month now, it's not that hard to lift an artificial ban in code, so… it seems the ban is only being lifted on items sold directly by Amazon US, not other Amazon storefronts (UK, JP, etc) and not third-parties. Screw you Amazon.

  • Still not working? :(

Just tried to buy something, said on the item listing "This item ships to Australia", but at checkout gave me this message.

    :(

    • Yeah this is worst part - you get all the way to checkout! I've tried both fulfilled by Amazon and by the seller - neither works. :/
