Book Depository and AMEX

Just noticed on my credit card statement I had been overcharged by Book Depository/AMEX. Might want to check it out for yourself if you use AMEX. I will be following up with my bank as well, but below is the email I got from Book Depository.

Dear XXXXX,

Thank you for your message. We have been experiencing an issue with AMEX Australia customers not being charged/refunded the correct amounts. I can assure you that this is not due to any action on behalf of The Book Depository and this matter has been escalated to American Express requesting a full answer as to why the transaction amount processed is not in line with the order entered into.

We have the electronic transmissions showing the monies received against this order which will be provided to American Express during this investigation, and we can also send a copy to you if you request it.

We have had assurance from HSBC that this issue has now been resolved, and they are currently working on rectifying the erroneous charges that have been incurred by those customers affected.

    • I had two orders in early/mid March. I was charged the correct amount and then another amount (a bit less) on both orders. So I had four charges for two orders.

      I did another order a couple of days ago and had no problems, so as the email suggests it looks like they fixed the problem.

      Just keep an eye on your credit card statement and make sure it matches your email receipt.
