Credit Card Applications as an Expat

Hey guys, wondering if anyone has experience applying for credit cards as a temporary expat outside Australia.

I'm currently living abroad, earning my salary in euros. But I would still like to apply for sign up bonuses back in Australia, and have my parents meet the minimum spend on the credit card (or send the card details to me and i can use it for online transactions).

Not sure how it will play out if I provide foreign payslips etc.

Anyone had any experience/luck with this?

I think you have to be residing in Australia to apply for the credit card. A better wording on this would be in the T&C of the credit card you are applying for.

  • Same situation here - I have tried and it is extremely difficult unless you have payslips in AUD. Most banks will not accept income unless it is taxable in Australia.

If you still have income in Australia and can prove this from a ATO tax return, that may also work.
