What's Your Experience with Amazon Expedited Shipping?

Just wondering what people's experience with this service has been so far? For me 2/2 times they have been 2-3 days later than the promised delivery date. Now I know this is probably not their fault - Auspost is getting slower. But why offer such a service if you can't deliver?

To be fair to Amazon, each time I complained I received credit, and I do live in Tasmania, but still, why promise a delivery time you can't keep?

  • Latest context for rant: have an order placed yesterday, yet to be shipped, however it still says it will arrive Tuesday. Unlikely unless they use express post, which I've never experienced

  • +4

I've had many items arrive early.

  • I always use the free option, as likely as not you will get it around the same time as you would expedited, its not amazons fault, its just our post system is terrible.

It's always arrived the day they have promised for delivery for me. (Country VIC)

  • Amazon post has been useless for me.
Priority delivery is meant to be one business day including Saturdays.
Yesterday all priority deliveries were Monday/Tuesday delivery.

  • It's been good for me so far (Prime member).

The only delays have been when something was out of stock and this was indicated at the point of purchase. Often the item arrives earlier than the estimated time.

Had a weird experience with groceries: ordered $50 worth for $25 (combining two offers) and they shipped in four separate deliveries as they came into stock… Including a tiny pack of dried apricots that came on its own one day in a big couriered box.

Amazon Australia apologised unprompted for that (their system thought it was multiple packs) and credited me $30, so effectively they paid me $5 to receive four couriered deliveries of $50 worth of groceries.

  • Ordered something which was 'guaranteed' to arrive 7 days ago via Amazon Prime, I emailed them and they looked into it telling me its scheduled for delivery and gave me a $5 voucher for my trouble. Anyone who recieves their item past the 'guaranteed by' date while using Amazon Prime should email their support; they usually give a voucher and/or free month of Prime

    • I have received both. I guess my point is they shouldn't offer something they can't fulfill. I ordered a ps4 on Thursday night and it still hasn't shipped yet it's due for delivery on Tuesday. Yet other people on this site who have done the same have had their orders shipped. It must be a Tasmania thing
