  The review says the write speed is just 40mb/s? Is that normal?

    The up to 300mb/s is the read speed. It's usually advertised that way as it looks better. I'd say that write speed is normal, it's a cheap usb 3.1 usb drive.

  My 4GB SanDisk Titanium USB 2.0 which I still use all the time from almost 15 years ago writes faster than this.

  I am using the 64gb and 32gb version, reading is really fast, at USB3.0 port its writing is steady at 22-25mb/s for large file, small file will go as low as 9mb/s, and it does not warm up at all. The last gen's writing speed is inconsistent and often halted intermittently, and warm up a lots. I rated it's the best of this price and the best build of all.

        It's also significantly faster in random reads and writes too…..the Rage 2 will only do like less than 1MB/s or around there in this area where as the Extreme Pro will do 100MB/s+…. but here's the Sandisk 128GB one which may be slightly slower: https://www.storagereview.com/sandisk_extreme_pro_usb_30_fla…

        Sure if you're intending to use the flash drive for moving or coping over larger than say a few megabytes in size, then Rage 2 would be sufficient, but if you're also copying/moving over tiny 1KB files or smaller and have lots…like 10k kind of lots, the Extreme Pro will be faster overall….

        Also you get lifetime warranty with Sandisk vs. 5 years on that Patriot brand….

        Who's negging me now…? :P

        EDIT: Also here's one for the magnum 2 which is basically the same product, but looks different and isn't retractable.

        EDIT4: Hmmm, the reviews don't seem to make it sound too good……criticisms about it starting hell fast but then dropping down to 60 to 70MB/s….. Oh it's actually just a SSD shrunked to flash drive form factor…..and thus not native flash drive that one of the commenters asked for:

        Is this a 'native' USB drive using UASP, or is this a USB-attached IDE/ATA/SCSI controller connected to a 'standard' SSD controller?

        Part of why I ask is how differently they're handled by some low level functions in windows. (For example, if you wanted to use this as a very fast offline media for SCCM Operating System Deployment (OSD), and it's detected as a 'hard disk'("Fixed disk", even if hot-swap enabled) rather than a 'usb flash disk'("Removable disk"), it won't work, because it gets confused by the extra hard disk detected.)
