[Reported Scam Website] iPhone XR 64GB $1120, 128GB $1170, 256GB $1315 @ iDealGadget (Officeworks Price Beat 64GB $1064)

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Thanks to Pratt33 for the original deal on the XS https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/419521

Picked up the 128gb myself and had no problem with the Office Works price beat, this is the lowest price I'm aware of. A couple of people have had troubles with the price beat but I had no problems.

For any anti Apple people who are deeply offended at the price of their phones, just keep scrolling past this and save your rage for something that matters more than the phone people choose to buy :D

Enjoy peeps

Mod 30/11: From comments, Officeworks now likely to refuse price beat, see here

Did you call the store or main line or go in??

    •

go in and pay in store.

    •

I called the store first to confirm then went in to pick it up.

      •

Which store? I noticed in another thread, head office no longer price beat the idealgadget website?

        •

Geelong. Apparently they have that site flagged for selling refurbished stock but that is impossible as it’s such a new phone. I saw someone mentioned they argued that and got the price beat but I had no problems at all.

  •

do they hold stock or you have to collect on a different day

  • +1 vote

They have the white and red at David Jones Sydney Elizabeth St for around $950.

    •

That's not on their website. Is this a weekend only offer? What capacity?

      • +1 vote

It had a red sticker on the white and red iPhone box in the little glass cabinet at the Apple section. I’ve just walked past it.

        • +1 vote

Can you take a pic of the stickers pretty please?

Called as well and the guy said it’s RRP

    •

I gave them a call and was told there was no discount for the red or white one.

  •

That is cheap! sure its XR

  •

Someone please share their Officeworks receipt.

    Thanks OP

I just got back from OW - the guys said they had no choice but to price match. Another guy was buying one at the same time using the idealgadget website.

    Thanks OP

It seems hardly any Officeworks stores in and around Sydney stock any iPhones. At least not the few models I tried to look up. Nothing at all for postcode 2000, but plenty for 3000.

    Question people- please assist :)

Is this company considered a third party?
I'm trying to price match at harvey Norman with gift cards but always get resistance to price match a lot of other sellers.
Does anyone think harvey Norman won't price match this? If it's within their terms and conditions , would I have a right to argue/ request for them to price match it or get a refund on gift cards?
Here is s link to their t's and c's.
    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/customer-service/price-match...
Maybe I'll try and get them to price match another item online to test it.. any advice please would be greeatful .

    •

Would they price match the officeworks receipt someone posted above?

    •

I don’t think Harvey Norman will price match it. It says if you find cheaper item at their competitor they will beat. They consider their competitor JB Hi Fi, Myers, Good Guys etc. For example on Good Guys website it says they will price match only from their competitor as well and I think they have given the list like Harvey Norman, Bunnings etc.

But try doing price match at Harvey Norman with OW receipt. You might get lucky.

On other hand OW will price match anyone as long as it’s in stock, same model, same colour and website url is .com.au or Aussie business company.

    •

Maybe don’t mention the gift cards until you actually go to pay.

The problem with HN is that the business owner will face a loss with this type of matching and therefore will try to weasel their way out. Additionally their salespeople are paid on gross margin so they themselves often try to weasel their way out of price matching and even reuse to sell some of their own doorbuster type sale items.

  •

Damn that’s a good price for a new iPhone.

  •

OW price almost as cheap as Big W a couple of weeks ago, nice.

Any deals for iPhone XS 256GB?

  • +2 votes

Bought 128GB from OW Victoria. They said they would get it delivered to their store for pickup.

  • +4 votes

Couldn't find stock in Sydney area but I called and they did the price beat, with (free) click and collect to my nearest store for tomorrow. That was for the black 256GB.

  • +4 votes

I called the OW price match number tel:1300633423
Initially was told can’t match idealgadget due to different part numbers.
Confirmed the part number is same for XR 128gb black.
    Order pickup in Melb CBD.

    Thanks OPs

Got a black 64GB price matched at Alexandria. It was the only one they had in stock. Took them a long time to do their “research” but finally approved it.

    Thanks OP!! ordered.

  •

Can anybody advise on the TRS? Going away for Xmas and bought one as a gift. TRS website says there has to be a full name in the receipts for purchases over $1000, but Officeworks staff said they can't enter the name anywhere in their system, so the invoice comes with no name on it. Did anybody experience the same? Will be claiming it in Sydney airport if it makes any difference.

    •

It’s wrong. I got my full name and home address on the receipt. If you want I can share the receipt hiding my details. I got my phone from OW Wentworthville.

      •

Thanks. Got confused as the manager said that he just came back from a trip claiming over $2k worth of TRS goods without any names. Sounds like I need to go back to the store, sigh…

Officeworks Preston VIC did price beat iPhone XR 64 gb blue color @ $1064.00. Just walked down the counters, helpful rep called PBG tech support and beat it in 5 minuets wait, just keep the welcoming genuine smile on the face while greeting +1

  •

Thanks heaps for this deal, managed to get the 128gb XR from Officeworks Cannington WA for $1111.50, been looking for ages for a deal on a iPhone XR.
I did get all excited when Apple sent email last week for their Black Friday sale and $70 gift card on iPhone purchase, but typical Apple only applied to last years phones.

  • +6 votes

    Worked for me as well.

iPhone XR 128gb $1111.50 in Hobart. The staff at Officeworks were amazed. Paid with Coles Myer GC purchased at ~15% off from a deal last year.

So total expense was only $950!

  •

Damn it I bought around $1330 from eBay, for the 256gb. On the bright side it was delivered and I’m off overseas so can claim trs.

  •

Anyone ordered on the phone and received an order number.

What does it say when you track the order ?

    https://www.officeworks.com.au/information/track-your-order/...

Mine says estimated delivery today but it’s not even picked up, still at order received.

Hope they don’t cancel our orders.

  •

Called Officeworks yesterday, they initially tried to claim that it was a fake website and that businesses don't list mobile numbers. He quickly changed his tone once I pointed out that a sole trader may only have a mobile phone, and that the ACN has been registered for over 10 years. However they had no red ones left in the country and wouldn't backorder one so still left empty handed.

    •

I'm thankful for the website, but you do wonder how and/or where they got stock of their iPhones.

    •

Just call back - the staff are inconsistent. Have ordered 3 phones in the past 24 hours, all different experiences but all eventually went ahead (even if stock not currently available)

Thanks @MrPyz! I just bought a Coral 128GB this morning from OW Brisbane CBD store for $1111.50. I did call the store to ask about what was available first and they basically said they could order most in still - so asked specifically about the one my better half wanted and all good. Told them I wanted to price beat and asked what website was and they told me to come in to organise. Showed idealgadget website in store and they were more than happy to price beat. Pickup tomorrow. Thanks again!

    •

      Hey ozbargbro,
Could you order either red or yellow colour as well?
I tried to buy those two colours this morning but the clerk said that it is not available at the moment.

      •

Hi bkkim, I think she mentioned red, but didn't write them down as was only looking for Coral. They also had different colours dependent on capacity (eg 128GB vs 256GB), so red may have been in the 256GB.

  •

Got one after the rep spent a while on the phone. Head office said it was a bit grey so it was really up to him. He said he would do a one-off. I was trying to get Officeworks gift cards at 5% off but the Suncorp app only did physical ones and I would need to wait a few days so didn't end up holding out in case the Ideal Gadgets price goes back up. A great win regardless - thanks OP!

  • +1 vote

Only the white and black ones are left in stock with OW. Hey, who cares about the colour when you are getting it for $189 cheaper. Just ordered one in $1111.25! Thanks OP!

  • +1 vote

Just ordered one this morning over the phone, no problems, the guy must have known about the website already as he did it immediately.

Haven't received an email yet though.

  • +1 vote

for those that ordered over the phone and collected instores. Have you received tax invoice including name and address to claim tax back at TRS?

    • +1 vote

I received my confirmation email a short while ago, still waiting for another email when it's ready to pickup. However the confirmation email contains the tax invoice.

  • +2 votes

Wife ordered over the phone today, price beat on iPhone XS 256GB. Collecting tomorrow. Thanks OzB - couldn't stop my wife spending an insane amount on a phone, but was able to make it ~$250 less painful. Meanwhile I'll be keeping my eyes out for a decent android well under half the price.

  •

Already purchased an iPhone XR but used my 28 Degrees Price Protection insurance to claim against the cheaper price on idealgadgets.com.au.

Already approved after only a couple of days. Thanks!

I always swore to my partner i'd never buy an iphone and tried my hardest to get her off the Apple bandwagon but after checking them out today and realising that all flagship phones are now 1k plus this isn't such a bad deal - they also hold their value amazingly well. Went for the XR 128GB as it seems like the best bang for buck - the girlfriend will be happy come Christmas time!

As others have mentioned called the price match number on 1300633423 and delivered to my store of choice a day later - easy as!

    •

it seems like the best bang for buck

When looking at iPhones only, yes. Apple marketing is very smart: they have a very very, over the top expensive phone, and all others with lesser features are "best bang for buck".

      LOL
