Motorola Moto G6 Plus OW Price Beat to $326.80

I am posting this in the forums instead of as a deal as it is unavailable online at Officeworks and most stores are out of stock, and the stores that do have stock only have limited stock so best of luck to anyone who tries to purchase. It may also depend on who you are served by.

I called Officeworks customer service to price match or price beat [Toby Deals] (https://www.tobydealsau.com/en_AU/product/motorola-moto-g6-p…) but was told they could not do it as the models are different. Toby Deals is XT1926 and Officeworks XT1926-5. They also cited different guarantees but I believe that is not in their Price Beat information.

I ended up calling a store with limited stock and they agreed to price beat it over the phone, however when I arrived in person the sales assistant showed a printed email from head office and said they could not price beat Toby Deals. However it was specifically for the Note 9 deal and in one line of the email it said all other Toby Deal offers could be Price Beat as long as it is valid.

I successfully purchased the phone with a bit of guilt on my conscience. If anyone is thinking of doing the same and would like a photo of my receipt, please PM me and I will send it to you.

*Edit: posted Toby Deals price as a deal.

  • I used to be a big fan of the Motorola phones but my last two have been sub par. 5Ghz wifi not working, little support in the way of OS updates, and generally poor QC. It's a shame because on paper they are promising.

Which two are they? I've had good experiences with the G5 plus and G5s Plus. I can't give up the moto gesture on the home button.

      • G6 Play (wifi issue), and G4+ (updates have stopped).

    • My G4 Plus has developed screen burn, something that is rarely screen on ordinary IPS displays. It's also hasn't seen updates for quite some time now, and has no Oreo update.

IMO Moto phones are decent and good value when you compare it to other devices from [Insert popular Korean brand here], but definitely not the budget superphone that most reviewers make it out to be.
They're good all rounder but don't excel at anything, and their feature sets are also pretty boring (no real gimmicks unless you want to pay extra for their Z series which have modular addons).

In some cases the flagships from the year before make pretty compelling purchases, e.g the LG G6 is cheap enough as a grey import that you'd consider it over a Moto G6 Plus. The older Nokia 8 too has also been seen for $300.

I also got G6 Plus recently from Officeworks with price beat againt Toby. prior to that I had (and its still working excellently) G5 plus. I have both 2.4 and 5.0 GHz wifi and never faced any issues. Moto gesture is great. G5 plus got a 8.0 upgrade and its great.

Great battery life and quick change as well. Overall I am really happy.
