Bought TV from The Good Guys - Stopped Working

Hi all,

I've just recently bought a TV from the Goodguys on the 27/11/18. The LG TV screen has stopped displaying but sound still does work.

I have called the Goodguys store that i have bought from and they only suggested to go through LG's manufacturer warranty. I'm not well-versed in consumer-laws but do the Goodguys have an obligation to do something about this? or is my only option is to go through LG's manufacturer warranty. It hasn't even been two days and it has already stopped working.

Any help is well appreciated.

Thank you.

do the Goodguys have an obligation to do something about this?

Yes. Call them up and mention "ACL". Decide whether you want a refund, repair or replacement - and ask for that.

Definitely be hitting them up for replacement given its only been a few days.

Walk into the Good Guys with it. Walk out with a refund/replacement. You choose.

This. Don't stand for any palaver. This is on TGG to sort out.

Walk into the store and politely demand they obey the ACL and either replace or refund you for the TV. Also if it is a big screen TV, their job to come pick it up. Though it may save you time and effort to take it with you, if possible. They can test it on the spot.

It's 2 days old. It should be replaced DOA. Speak to the Good Guys manager if the floor staff are giving you the run around.

have you tried turning it off and on again?

Threatening them with the Australian Christian Lobby usually puts the fear of God into them….

      Nice work

    • OP, out of interest, what was the model number of the TV?

      Cheers

  • Really hate it that even the big guys want to do this dance before fulfilling their legal obligations.
