Cheap USB C Hub Recommendation?

Hi,

I'm looking for a USB-C hub which, at a minimum, provides an USB 3 (type A) and a SD port. Power delivery would be nice but not essential.
Something like this: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07JN7CLHT/ but it's out of stock.
My best candidate at the moment is probably this one (without power delivery) but I know they had it on sale for 10$ so it doesn't feel that good to pay 25$… https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B075FQY5BN/

I'm willing to pay a bit more if it has a (mini) displayport output but this seems to be limited to much more expensive items.

Do you have any recommendation?

  • I missed that Amazon deal too, so will follow this thread

    • Same here, missed the deal hence following this thread. But personally, prefer one with Charging Port.

  • I read the reviews and went for the one which was highest rated on several review sites, the HyperDrive Duo 7 in 2 specifically for the new MacBook Pro.

Check this one out - it looks like a copy of the above for $39.69

  • Update: I ordered this when it was 20$: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07G9HPCVR
I did not want to order one that fits directly on the side of the computer (without a cable), as I read comments about some of the cheap ones not being perfectly adjusted.

I'm not convinced yet. On the positive side it looks nice and most ports work. The HDMI works well natively for my screen (2560x1080), which is a nice bonus… as long as I don't plug a mouse on the hub. This thing supports a screen or a mouse but not both at the same time. As soon as I plug the screen, the mouse becomes super laggy.
In addition the USB-C power delivery doesn't seem to work, as the hub doesn't charge my computer.

So, although it covers my original requirement, I've sent a query to the vendor to see if I don't have a defective unit. Alternatively I'll just connect my mouse differently.

    • +2

Follow-up: I've received a replacement which works flawlessly. So, I think this hub is very good value for money and I can happily recommend it; in case of issue their customer service is top class.

  • Thanks for the recommendation Romain. Bought myself one at $32 as I didn't want to wait for a deal. There are plenty around but so overpriced going past the $100 mark. This one does it all at a reasonable price tag!
