What date were these beans roasted or are they roasted when orders are taken?

    • +1

From the website "Buying coffee beans online from Bay Beans is unique. The experience starts online when you place your order. You can expect to receive a personal confirmation of your order within two hours. You deal directly with James, so you know your custom is valued. Your beans are then hand-roasted and packaged within 24 hours - all Bay Beans orders are roasted fresh to ensure maximum freshness and quality."

It looks like they’re roasted to order - there’s a service status on the top right of the home page which says that beans are roasted within 12 hours of ordering, and shipped within one day.

    • I've never had a date on the beans I received however it's within a day of roasting and shipped express post. Even over a weekend express post I've always been happy with the freshness and crema of these beans. I've tried 4 varieties and going to order these now.
I've tries Manna beans, 4 types and not been quite as impressed. I get blonding earlier which I'm not keen in.
For me, Bay Beans are a bit better. All personal taste though so, and I recommend trying them.

Yes same question as scotch. Roast date is super important.

What beans are in this blend or is it single origin?

    • +5

All it took was one more click…

      https://www.baybeans.com.au/premium-reserve-coffee-beans.htm…

"This Premium Reserve is an expertly roasted blend of three single origin coffees from Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Papua New Guinea. It produces a cup of delicately balanced Cocoa, nutty malt, infused with sweet tropical fruits and honey-citrus flavours. Medium to full bodied pushing beautifully through milk and gentle enough as an espresso."

      • A true example of a commodity vs premium hand raised and selected plants from rare and exotic farms and growers.

Best part is, places like St Ali grow communities which rely on coffee.

Places like beanbay exploit currency rates and cheap Labor. Would love to see many people here work 13 hour days in a coffee field picking coffee for $20 a month.

        • Care to substantiate your claim?

          • @bemybubble: It's clearly stipulated on the website.

He does 1 (one) Fairtrade coffee.

            https://www.baybeans.com.au/mfairtrade.html

That's utterly disgusting. Even McDonald's is all Fairtrade! This is all seriously $6 a kg coffee from some of the world's poorest regions. They dont even stipulate the correct name of the coffee beans so it can be back tracked to the farm.

Guys, this is (profanity) Child Labor 101.. I'm sorry to say

Has never expired for me. great beans, fresh as. Look for bay beans here and u can see the deal listed a while ago. I just search bay beans, click the link and its been $49.70. Tried the aldi $12 coffee, not to my taste. These are darker, the postage has been very prompt and the beans very fresh.

    • thanks, will give it a try when my manna beans and st ali stocks get low

  • When adding 2 x 1Kg to cart, it shows up full price.

Ordered. I’m quite fussy to will do a complex review unless I’ve had too much coffee.

    • +1

      Please do cold brew too.

    • still waiting on that review….?!

  • Hey bemybubble, this looks like a good deal. Can you confirm what bean is the additional 1kg? If it's the same bean, any chance you could swap it out for another option, like the decaf.

    • Sorry buddy. I’m just the OP. Not a store rep. I can sell you my car??

      • I've also included FREE bean grinding

This is the reason why McGeeski thought you were a rep.

      • Would it come with a kg of beans?

        • If it’s like me. It will run on beans :D

  • Anyone have a picture of the beans? I want to see how dark roast they are.

  • Bay Beans is so good! Ordered! Very fast shipping and service too.

  • Is anyone in the Ashfield NSW area interested in buying the coffee? Thanks.

    • do you mean going halves?

  • Fast shipment, good service. And beans’ definitely freshly roasted. Single shot with milk is mild, double is quite strong.

Just ordered my 16th bag of beans and thought I'd write here - if you haven't tried them you should!
    The beans are awesome
The service from James is fast and very efficient
Very happy we found them on Ozbargain, thanks for posting everyone.

The scent of the beans is also excellent - very yummy and almost chocolatey but they make a fabulous coffee. We are long black, short black and cappuccino drinkers here. I actually prefer to make my own coffee using these beans than getting one from the cafe.

  • This is more of a journey then a comment, I got into the home barista scene around 5 years ago and like many people I started trying all different types of coffee.
One day my mate recommended bay beans coffee to me and I gave it a go and since then I have not l looked back.
The coffee is awesome, the service is awesome, usually takes about 2 or 3 days for the coffee to arrive.
This offer for me is a no brainer, Premium Reserve Coffee Beans Buy 1kg Get 1kg free…what else can I ask for
For all those who are looking into making your own coffee or want to try something new, I highly recommend this
