  • Can you change the deal? Whilst a freebie is nice I rather have a free upsize than to have another small drink with the same flavour. Don't want to be carrying another cup! Alternatively, a free drink with another flavour.

    • Agree this promotion makes no sense. Buy a huge cup of juice (which many people probably can't finish anyway) and we'll throw in a tiny cup of the same juice. What's the point?

      • exactly! waste of money, waste of resource.

      • -3

if you have kids and dont want to share drinks because:
        a) they are often sick and best not to share germs
        b) they like to and should hold their own containers and cups, also gets annoying handing it back and forth every few minutes
        c) bloody expensive to order a second drink of a small size cuase its poor value. but a larger more value drink is too much for them to finish

hows the weather like inside your bubble

        • +1

The kind of people who spend $8-$9.50 on a cup of juice are worried about it being expensive??
Are these the same kind of people that spend $14 on smashed avo and then complain they are poor?

Now I'm far from a juice connoisseur but I find it hard to justify that cost. If you are buying another $7-$8 small juice for your kid you mustn't be too bad off. They'll be just as happy with a $2 juice from Coles.

@pennypincher98: the juices from Top juice are freshly made infront of you

the bottled prepackaged stuff has god knows what sugar and additives and made from concentrates

as much as i love doing the coleworths run before a trip to say the cinemas, its not always practical or convenient

and thats what youre paying for ontop of the better quality product

$8 is the max id pay for a juice like this based on the balance of the fact that:
            1) i dont want to drink soda
            2) water is too boring on a day out
            3) this is fresher, healthier and better than pre bottled
            4) im not carrying around my own juicer when im in the shopping centre
            5) its convenient
            6) getting a free juice ontop makes it less of a ripoff

dont have to be rich to afford $8 once in a while considering the random impulse purchases that happens when browsing ozbargain

Also what if i told you that you can afford to buy an $8 juice and still be frugal about it? stop projecting your own frugality over others

            name checks out i guess

@furythree: Take a bottled Boost Juice or a Nudie juice from Coles/Woolies. That is pure juice, but without the price tag.

You said about "$8 once in a while", so you suddenly don't buy one for your kid anymore? That jumps to $15 for a drink. You and your kid still need to eat yet, juice isn't filling. Please tell me more about how spending $8+ on a cup of juice is being frugal. That's being entitled.

Funny you mention the cinema - most of the cinemas I've gone to say no outside food/drink to be brought in. A lot easier to take in a bottle.

You do realise it's just a damn drink yeah? I'd rather save that money for something else.

Also "better" is very subjective. Are you one of these people who upgrades to the latest iPhone every year or who has the fastest computer to send a few emails and check Facebook? They are better. But does the price justify the product?

Not appreciating the personal attack either.

@pennypincher98: you realise not everyone goes out everyday and buy $8 juices for every meal

its barely a once a week thing, probably less frequent than that. Hardly going to break the bank. Im sure youve wasted more money on menial things

if not, good on you. stop gatekeeping how people spend their money

and what if i told you not everyone wants to drink orange juice when they want a juice.

But yeah keep extrapolating how this is suddenly a survival situation where i have to pick a drink vs a meal. and that theres some rule that states i always need to buy 2 drinks incl one for my kids every single time.

Funny you mention the cinema - most of the cinemas I've gone to say no outside food/drink to be brought in. A lot easier to take in a bottle.

Awww did big meanie cinema not let you sneak in outside food one time? thats so sad
                Alexa, play despacito

You do realise it's just a damn drink yeah? I'd rather save that money for something else.

what if i told you i wouldnt be buying juices if an $8 luxury transaction was going to affect my spending for something else, id probably not be a financial situation to consider buying one in the first place.

But yes lets shut down all Top juice stores because some of us dont want anyone buying $8 juices, cause muh circumstances and opinions

                Also "better" is very subjective.

given it is subjective, you seem to be trying to force your opinions on how others spend their money and care too damn much. even though its "just a damn drink yeah?"

Are you one of these people who upgrades to the latest iPhone every year or who has the fastest computer to send a few emails and check Facebook? They are better. But does the price justify the product?

I hate the lack of value of apple products as the next android/windows guy. But i dont give a damn how people want to spend their money
You dont know everyones circumstances, maybe people are frugal in one area to save up so they can splurge in another

A market exists because someone is willing to pay for it. You could always move to north korea

i think the most poor value thing has to be the waste of time this exchange has been. the minutes wasted with this moronic discussion probably cost me more than $8 of my time

                • +1

@furythree: I couldn't be bothered to read half of that tbh.
If you want to waste your money on such stuff, so be it but don't go around saying that paying $8+ for a juice at least every week ($15+ if you are buying one for your kid) is being frugal.

Had to lol at the "moronic discussion" part though. Can't say I disagree, but I wasn't so upset as you.

                  • @pennypincher98: i dont know where you keep getting the at least every week bit from despite me literally saying otherwise

given its not purchased every other week. its not that unaffordable. get over it. pricing is subjective

                    • @furythree:

its barely a once a week thing

LOL I have gotten over it, but you continue to engage in this "moronic discussion".
I'm not saying it's unaffordable lol, pretty much everyone can afford $8 a week. But it isn't being frugal.

LOL I have gotten over it, but you continue to engage in this "moronic discussion".
have you though? you see the irony in replying right?
you going to come up with a better response other than latching onto one statement and repeating yourself 3 times? lets see if your next reply can avoid repeating the same thing.

I'm not saying it's unaffordable lol, pretty much everyone can afford $8 a week. But it isn't being frugal.

then what are you bitching about. Thats been the premise of every whinge you've had since the start of this comment chain

get your story straight and come up with a consistent thing to moan about next time

                        muhh affordability
                        muhh value for money
                        muhh starving kids
                        muhh semantics

                        muhh braincells

                        • @furythree: I got a Top Juice specially because of this, opting for a "Berried Treasure" fruit juice. It wasn't that special. I didn't realise "mixed berries" literally meant strawberry and raspberry. The orange overpowered everything with its acidity.

I really wanted to like it, so I told them what is a nice fruity tasting juice to have and they recommended this and another "Feel Good". I walked away disappointed. It was pretty much fresh orange juice with a hint of other flavours. I make a better juice myself in my $49 Kogan Nutribullet-esque blender lol.

Anyway, back to what you were saying. I am always up for a debate so I'm happy to keep this going - it's you that is complaining about wasting time participating in moronic discussion. I love it how you also choose to ignore certain parts of my comments you can't disagree with.

No matter how you skin it, $8 for a 600mL juice isn't a good price. I would rather get a bottled Boost Juice (1L for around $4.50) or a Nudie Juice ($5.50 for 2L) if I'm after simpler flavours. But I'm not going to care less about how you spend your money. Just don't waste anyone else's saying that they are worth it.

                          muhh starving kids

That made me laugh. I sure hope you aren't just giving your kids juice lol. I also sure hope that you can still afford to feed everyone properly.

Some of the things you have said are a bit weird though.
Don't get how semantics relate in here and you know Despacito is essentially a song about lust for sex and the various methods to try and achieve it. Not sure what you were implying there?? Bit awkward.

                          • @pennypincher98: can i see the trolley or camping backpack you must lug around to carry the portable batteries, inverters to power your kogan nutribullet and the fresh fruit to make these 1:1 comparible home made juices vs ones available when you go shopping?

                            • @furythree:

Funny how you are purposely ignoring this every time.
Oh, maybe it's because it's better value and you don't want to admit it!

                              • @pennypincher98: i responded to it already. re read the reply after the first time you mentioned it

but in case it wasnt clear ill elaborate

prepackged juice isnt the same as made to order juice. this is the premium you are paying for. Whether its worth it to each individual is a matter of personal preference and opinion of value.

Im also not going to go find a woolies navigate their fridge isle. risk impulse buying other crap i dont need on the way out. Line up at a register, pay and then go all the way back to the regular shops. ALso i dont buy plain old orange juice or the other prepackged flavours the supermarkets stock. Not only have they been bottled days or weeks ago, its not what i want to drink, so how is it even comparible?

Im not lugging around a 1 or 2L nudie juice bottle either for the sake of saving a few dollars for a rare purchase. thats just pennypinching to the extreme

Prepackage nudie juice or boost are not direct substitutes to freshly made juice. (not being a smartass here, but that is literally the econonomics 101 definition of substitutes)

boost is extremely high sugar. Yes theyve recently started adding to their menu, but the majority of their stuff is dairy/yoghurt based smoothies, high in sugar and their juices (if you ever watch them restock the machine) is the prepackaged long life stuff you get from supermarkets.

The specific stuff i buy from top juice are their kale to the chief/slim grins/pomegranate juice (which unfortunately recently became prepackaged instead of cold pressed to order) or other freshly made juices to order. Its very different to boost, just because boost makes it on the spot isnt comparable if the ingredients are different

THat is not to say i dont order boosts as well. i buy both, but only when im seeking something different to the fresh stuff top juice has and dont care about healthy juice that day and just want a treat.

Would be good if the cup was reusable.

Now I'm not going to go full environmentalist but that would actually bring some sort of value here. There's the fact that you'll be using twice as many cups (ie more landfill) but let's not get into that.

I need to get in to the juice business lol. $9 each!!
