[Service NSW] PayPal Available for Rego and Licence Payments

Received this email today from Service NSW:

Service NSW now offers PayPal for online and mobile payments.

At the moment PayPal can only be used for Roads and Maritime Service transactions like car rego renewal and licence renewal and will be available for more services next year.

Never thought that a government body would start to accept PayPal payments… What's your take on this?

Will you start paying with PayPal or not? Privacy concerns?

Sounds like they've negotiated a good processing fee.

Heh fun when they start to get charge backs

    • Exactly what I was thinking!
But they will probably deal with it the same way they deal with bank card chargebacks.

      "Product not as described".

  • But will they still slug you the card fee if you pay via PayPal?

I believe so. I renewed mine a few days ago and the fee for card and PayPal was the same. (~$2.80) from memory. Used BPay to avoid the fee.

  • PayPal are keen to expand to as many opportunities as possible. I avoid them where possible, as a form of protest against how they handle eBay disputes if you are a seller. Or how they hold onto your money for 21 days if your a new ebay seller.
