Myer Online Can't Cancel a Order after 10 Mins

I would suggest never use Myer online, if you order the wrong size or item your in big trouble, hold takes longer than 10 mins and once your through they say they can't cancel the order because its been more than 10 mins

Only website that does this, it's a joke.

  • Just goto the store and take the item off the shelf. Myer is really really shitty at picking orders quickly, and will cancel if it's out of stock when they finally decided to go get item.

Or just return it in store later

  • Same as Dyson, the worst part is you can’t take it back in store. They will still deliver it and you have to refuse delivery, the whole process takes more than a month and you have to keep chasing them for the refund

Not the only website - Target Online is similar in that apparently you can't cancel an online order at all once it's been placed, nor can you amend the order if you've selected the delivery option. I put in an order about a month ago and selected home delivery as it's about a 2-hour round-trip to our nearest Target store, only to find out about an hour later that my partner (who was away in Melbourne at the time) had been passing a Target store and decided to be helpful by buying one of the items I'd just ordered! I checked the Target website which stated that you couldn't amend an order yourself but could place a new order by calling their Customer Support. Got straight on the phone, about a half hour wait, then spoke to a very friendly young lady who informed me that in fact no, I couldn't amend the order as I'd chosen home delivery. I would have to wait until the order arrived, then send back the item I didn't want, using the pre-paid postage label she emailed me. Seems like an awfully clumsy way to do business. But then, to top it all off, I received an email the next morning saying that my entire order had been cancelled due to insufficient stock - I'd ordered 5 different items, all of which were still showing as available on the website, so thought WTF? Back on the phone to Customer Support who looked into it and said yes, at least 4 of the items were still definitely in stock, there appeared to have been some sort of glitch in the system which had somehow cancelled my order, so "you can just go ahead and place another order" Er, not until I get my money refunded from the first order, thanks very much! Never had issues in the past with ordering online from Target, but then again, I'd never previously tried to change an order either.

You've wanted to get that off your chest for a while now hey?

      • Sure have LOL. Target was getting a "high volume of calls" at the time this happened, so ended up wasting about 4 hours across the two days trying to sort it all out.

These are the companies that think that Amazon won't hurt their business.

  • If you don't like it you could always start up your own retail chain with online shopping options and give your customers exactly what you want in service. Nothing really sticks it to the man like showing them how it's done!

  • Can you not just return it once received?
My experiences with Myer’s returns have been very good.

Wow, you're acting like it's their fault you ordered the wrong stuff.
Why stop at manager? Push for their CEO to personally come pick up the stuff and present you with a written apology.
        All the best.

This is purely your fault for ordering the wrong thing. You're not entitled to be able to cancel anything, so don't assume that you can.

So you have never cancelled a order in your life?
Mistakes happen, bugs on websites happen. Or they never list the size till you have to look up the model and find out later the true size. there are reasons why stores need to be able to cancel orders. never had a problem with other online stores

        Mistakes happen

Yes, and when I make a mistake I understand it's on me, and don't whine about it.

            @Rukiata: You need a mirror.

          • @Rukiata:

You kind of are though… Well, whinging anyhow… This whole post is exactly that, a whingepost…

          • @Rukiata:

            LOL I am not whining.

            Checklist -

            1. Useless complaining to others that don't care.
            2. Making oneself feel important through the use of useless complaining
            3. Using complaining as propaganda to make someone or something look bad
      • Mistakes happen

Understandable and it would be gracious if a business provides you with a refund. It's not your entitlement/right.

        bugs on websites happen

It's not now is it? And if it was, then you should bring this up with the police as they've managed to charge your credit card without your explicit consent.

Or they never list the size till you have to look up the model and find out later the true size.

Or not buy it until you're satisfied you're sufficiently informed.

  • I would suggest never use Myer online…

    How old are you?

Did you accidentally add an item to your cart, then accidentally put all your details, including your credit card info and then accidentally click on the confirm purchase button?

Perhaps spend an extra 10 minutes to check that your order is correct before clicking that "BUY" button.

Be glad that you ordered whatever it was from Myer, who will let you refund the item(s) later. Other stores wouldnt even give you a refund for "change of mind".

Truth is, your order will likely be part of thousands of orders. If everyone started calling up to cancel their orders, they'd need to increase their manpower to do all that and that brings the risk of cancelling orders that should, otherwise, go through. If that happens, the person who's order was wrongly cancelled will then call up and complain.
