Hotel/Accomodation sites that let you pay off a booking leading up to booking date?

Hi all

I'm planning a trip to Asia next year and I'd like to start booking my accomodation and paying it off as the booking gets closer. Are there any sites that let you pay in advance, but don't enforce payment at booking time?

Thanks

Some of the online travel agency websites, such as Booking.com, allow you to pay at the property with no deposit at booking time.
Have never heard of sites that allow you to make instalment payments.
You could get your itinerary sorted out with a travel agent who might be able to work with you on a payment plan.

This would be the best suggestion - book the hotel at a website that allows you to pay at the hotel upon check in. Then put money aside each week.

  • A lot of hotels in Asia dont let the third party sites take the funds for reservations, which means you need to pay at time of arrival (very common in Asia)

Saying that, Jetstar has AfterPay so you could maybe book through their hotel site and use Afterpay to pay off the accomodation.

book with a credit card and then pay off the credit card as the booking gets closer.

So much fail here……. Can't save, wants a payment plan. Life isn't about payment plans. Try saving up for something.

Thanks for your valuable input, peanut.

haha yes I'm the peanut who needs a payment plan for life……. Oh wait, no I don't!

i don't need anything - merely asking a question surrounding payment options allowed by different accommodation providers.

          • @tommynolips:

            i don't need anything

Your question here would say otherwise.

@tommynolips: I see by your rate of applying neg votes, you're one of those people. Enjoy life, its going to be a bumpy ride!

            • @JimmyF: amazing what some people choose to expend their energy on :)

Both you and OP, for different reasons, need to get some perspective and stop acting like kids

i am a kid, hence asking if it's possible to pay off accommodation for my first big overseas trip.

        • On a different note, yes. Many hotels on agoda/booking.com allow you to book now, pay later/at hotel. So just do that and put some money away every week. You can also do that with certain airlines for tickets. E.g. afterpay with jetstar

        • I think your main issue is not knowing that there are places that let you pay on arrival.

Other than that - budgeting and saving tend to be good life skills to have.

        • Do your parents know you're going to Asia?

    • Although I'd have approached the message slightly differently, I agree. Even if you can get the accommodation on a later payment, flight tickets are typically up-front, and insurance certainly is..

Op - You are going to buy travel insurance, right?

Never pay upfront for anything in life unless you have to.
You might have to cancel, they give you crappy service, or you find a better deal etc etc

Also you’ll be losing interest by giving them money

  • Expedia had an option a while back to defer payment on accom - you couldn't do part payments as it was either up front or on arrival

  • Recently booked a hotel on Agoda for mid feb and it lets me pay in early feb. so yes as others have mentioned you definitely don’t have to pay up front and have time to save :)

  • If you book using a typical bricks and mortar travel agent (getting price match as much as possible) you can usually pay in installments. AFAIK you need to put up about 1/3 within about 2 weeks.

Otherwise using booking.com, as others have mentioned, allows you to pay when you arrive. If you're doing this, make sure you have a no-forex fee card as you'll be paying in local currencies.

    • I didn't realise that, whenever we book though Flight Centre (on price match), we have to pay the total within a day, or are we just rubes?

  • I think it's always a good idea to try and pay upfront, because payment plans either make you pay interest or have lots of tricky fees.

However, if you can be conscientious about paying you may want to look at Skye Mastercard. It will allow you to set up an interest free payment plan, no international transaction fees, and no annual fee for the next year. Make sure to pay your bill off in the interest free period though, and carefully read all terms and conditions.
