One Week Break in Adelaide

So we have planned to have a one week holiday visit Adelaide, total newcomer to the region and have completely no clue what good to do. Will be coming in late February or Mid March next year.

Locals have great ideas what best to spend time on? will rent a car when grounded at airport. Any good places further away from Adelaide should worth visit? What are some cheap or affordable meal or things to do options?

Four people holiday, only one driver so need account for rest breaks sure in between whole journey. think we prefer scenery or sight see but do open any good stuffs to do

From someone who visited a couple of years back - the zoo (cool for its smallness and closeness to the animals), Hahndorf, motor museum

    And just general relaxing!

      Hahndorf

      BEERENBERG STRAWBERRY FARM :D

I went to Adelaide for the first time last year to visit my friend and to go to Beerenberg. I liked checking out Maggie Beer’s farm and the Whispering Wall.

    1) Barossa Valley for the best wineries in Aus
    2) A drive through the Adelaide Hills (Gumeracha [the Rocking Horse], Birdwood [National Motor Museum and the local bakery], Handorf [old German town with amazing food and beverage], etc
    3) A drive down south to South to Victor Harbor/Second Valley for a beach day/stay which will be nice weather in Feb/March
    4) Adelaide Botanic Gardens and Zoo

The railway museum in port Adelaide is the best.
    Aviation museum pretty good too.
    Maritime museum…not so much.
There’s a very short ferry ride that goes from the zoo to (I think) Adelaide oval.
Adelaide oval also good to have a look, though I got chased by some ducks one time on my way there so watch out.
There’s a bus that goes on something called an o-bahn? which I thought was so cool - it’s basically a bus with training wheels that goes really fast on these concrete rail things (maybe I’m just easily amused, but so impressed with it).
    Adelaide jail is okay.
    Zoo is good.
    Botanic gardens nice.
Glenelg has a fun park type thing called the Beachhouse - it’s like time zone, but with water slides, mini golf and a small train ride and things.
This is all I can remember at this point in time.

Factor in that this is on and plan and book early.

    • thanks great timing! how much time do you think we should allocate to attend this such event?

  • I heard there is a couple of churches you can visit (assuming you may be religious)

  • Did you know… Adelaide is the flattest city in Australia, which made it ideal for horse trams.
