Recommendation for Suburb in Adelaide

Hi. I'm moving down to Adelaide start of next year and wanting to know where I should rent/buy a house. I'll be working in Northern Adelaide so looking for a convenient area and safe.

Cheers

Yikes. I've been there a few times. It's Mt Druitt Jr.

i was living in western beach suburb - henley beach/grange and going to gawler, about an hour commute, but traffic all going in the opposite direction so not too bad. but depends how far you want to live from work

Try Mawson Lakes or Golden Grove. Buy over rent in Adelaide. As an investor my Adelaide properties are retunring over 6% which suggest rent is more expensive while rates are low. SA property prices are flat, so when comparing to Syd\Melb you wont lose and may even gain when time to sell

    • Ive had a look especially Golden Grove. But thinking of buying after renting 6 months. Anything to specifically look at? Land size etc

Obviously anything around a qtr acre would be nice. Adelaide tends to have smaller block sizes as zoning rules are different to Syd\Qld. Golden Grove has lots of amenities & is popular. Stay away from the fringe areas that back on to some lesser quality suburbs :-). Th houses there will be edging 30 yrs so this will depend on whether you want to do reno's or buy something that someones already upgraded

        • Thanks a lot for the info. How about Blakeview? Mrs loves the houses because they’re new.

@belesci: Blakeview borders Elizabeth, Elizabeth Downs and Elizabeth North. None of which I would want to live in or next to.

If you are comfortable with the commute and budget allows I would recommend coming south of Grand Junction Road.

    • Depend how you look at it, rental market in Adelaide sux, but ROI is better than other states. Its cheaper to rent in Adelaide compared to other cities. Although rates are low, poor employment growth.
