Appliance Central Issues

I purchased a TV from Appliance Central more than a month ago and despite calls to eBay, Hunter Express and the Merchant, I'm yet to receive the delivery. Delivery was requested arranged on 2 occasions, which didn't eventuate.

Do these guys have a reputation of backing out of agreements, poor communication and engaging in deceptive practices?

I'm interested to know whether anyone else had similar issues with the merchant?

What have they said when you contacted them about the 2 missed deliveries?

  • Haha crap I literally just placed an order with them! What does the tracking say?

  • The merchant tells me to contact Hunter Express, eBay says the same. It's free delivery and Hunter is a third party. They list for delivery, which doesn't occur, but say nothing.

Sounds like its not your problem to chase their delivery contractors.

Raise a dispute on eBay for undelivered goods.

      • That depends what OP's priority is - getting their money back or getting the goods.

  • Have you tried tracking the deliveries?

    https://www.aftership.com/couriers/hunter-express

But it could just be because you live in a remote place.

  • The consignment is tracked. It listed as scanned into depot, scanned out of depot, listed for delivery etc, but never as delivered.

Seems like a delivery company issue - what did Hunter Express say when you called them? (Because eBay and Appliances Central is going to have to ask them the same question too).

He didn't buy it from Hunter Express.

It's time the merchant lifts a finger after more than a month.

        • It's been a month but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a month past its expected delivery date.

Plus - OP can contact more than one party at a time. This might just get OP some direct answers faster.

For the record, I agree completely that it's the seller's responsibility to ensure the goods get delivered. But they're not personally delivering it so they can only give OP so much information.

@HighAndDry: "It's completely their responsibility but doing nothing at all is taking responsibility for it in my books."

@Diji1: You're missing the point. Appliance Central aren't a delivery company. OP could spend hours yelling at them, and at the end of the day they'll still only be able to tell Hunter Express to deliver it.

Which they very likely already has: they have no reason to have anything to do with OP's delivery woes.

              • @HighAndDry: Hunter Express have no contract with the OP, nor does the OP have a contract with Hunter Express.

The contract exists solely between Appliance Central and Hunter Express for the delivery of goods.

@[Deactivated]: Yes, I'm aware of that. I'm not arguing the legal side of things (which I can, but it won't help OP actually get his TV any faster). For all practical intents and purposes - if the TV is with Hunter Express (which everything indicates it is), no one else is in a position to do anything. Appliance Central can give OP a refund - but OP wants the TV, not a refund. And the TV is physically with Hunter Express.

And given that Appliance Central is using Hunter Express as delivery service, I'm guessing they're the only choice, because they certainly wouldn't be anyone's first choice.

                  • @HighAndDry: So Appliance Central has their money so all good, forget the customer and the fact they haven't got a television?

The responsibility is with Appliance Central to ensure that the OP receives their product.

If the OP does a charge back, the bank won't care about Hunter Express.

                    End of story.

                      Sigh.

OP wants their TV, not a refund. If a chargeback would magically get OP their TV, I would've told them to do that already. Nothing indicates Appliance Central isn't willing to refund it - OP just hasn't asked for one because, for the nth time, OP DOESN'T WANT A REFUND, OP WANTS THEIR TV.

                      • @HighAndDry: So give Appliance Central hell for not delivering it as they should.

                        • -1

@[Deactivated]: That won't help OP. I'm not saying OP can't, but it literally will not help OP, because Appliance Central will have to go back to Hunter Express anyway. OP might as well directly give Hunter Express hell.

                          • @HighAndDry: So, Appliance Central shouldn't do anything to try and help?

If they send a lot with HE, they'll have an account manager and thus they have leverage that the OP doesn't have.
I'm sure HE doesn't want to lose customers (AC is their customer).

  • Appliance Central's current price for the TV, delivered, is $423 more the I paid.

Also, Hunter Express will do what their client Appliance Central directs.

Hunter Express is notorious with bad reviews , same as their budget division E-go.

but then every single courier has bad reviews.

  • I'd be contacting hunter express. Had a pantry ordered,it went through them. I got an email from the seller saying I refused delivery and the courier wasn't willing to do stairs. I replied that I hadn't even talked to a courier and hadn't even heard
of hunter express. A few days later I got a refund and then a week after the pantry was randomly placed on its side in front of my neighbours door up two flights of stairs. We had to get another neighbour to help move it so she could get out. Seller apologized for the courier and said keep it and the refund.
Then had a mattress delivered by them at a new ground floor adress. The guy expected me to take it out of the van and lug it by myself. Smallish sized girl here. He was really rude about it then just pulled it out and left it three doors down.
They're not great I'd bet money they have it.

  • Yes, that sounds about right. I've contacted them on four occasions and no acknowledgement.

  • Well Im in a similar boat to the OP
Placed order for TV on the 24/12 …the deal was for 'guaranteed delivery' by 4th Jan 2019

Instead I got an email last week saying there is some supplier issue and that the TV would be with 'Hunter Express' and be on the road for delivery by the 8th Jan..

I rang Appliance Central today to be told that there is still a supply issue and they are waiting on TV's probably to arrive in warehouse in a couple of weeks….at this moment I pointed out to Appliance Central that not only did they guarantee delivery by the 4th Jan but they have had my money since the 26th of last month.

Suddenly Appliance Central tells me that ..ok sorry your order will be started later today (8th)!

So will have to wait and see if the TV turns up…will give it 7 days…if no joy Im pushing for a full refund.

Wondered if anyone else has been getting the runaround from Appliance Central purchases. …to me sellers should not be able to take your money unless they have the TV (item) in stock…I find the behaviour of Appliance Central deceiving by saying they have 'X' amount in stock when they do not…and subsequently say they guarantee delivery when they do not. Good Luck to all Appliance Central Purchasers.!

  • Still no TV delivery since paid for the TV on Dec 26th from Appliance Central - They said they would guarantee delivery by the 4th January…. Never will purchase from them again..if its not here by COB Monday then I just want my money back.

I tried to call Hunter Express today….3 times …each time I waited over 45 minutes…just left on hold.
Called Appliance Central they say Hunter Express is not responding to their communication either…..OMFG!

Absolute Rubbish - How is it that they can sell TV's that they do not stock..then cannot…do not deliver when they say they guarantee they will.

  • Have had nothing but isues with this mob and the courier. Who knew coordinating a simple delivery was so hard?

Still haven't gor my tv yet.

  • This is an old thread but it seems they still haven't got their act together… I know I shouldn't have believed the listing when it said ETA is 1-2 day delivery. My TV hasn't even left the Sydney depot for a week, despite the call centre trying to convince me that it's probably (i.e. they have no idea) in Vic. I definitely won't be buying from AC again until they change courier… what a nightmare

    • Did you get your TV in the end? I ordered mine on the 1/09 and I have not gotten any new updates from the tracker. I'm getting really worried that mine would never arrive.

      • Does it say whether it's been scanned into depot? I didn't see any updates for most of that time until it was finally scanned into depot, then it moved quickly from there… took 2 weeks. The shipping speed was misleading, the courier said the TV hadn't actually been sent express (that option would cost a lot more, they said) so it wasn't actually considered "delayed". I questioned why the ETA says 1-2 days in their tracking and they seemed baffled that I could expect such fast delivery in the current environment…

        • oh mine's been stuck at On-Forwarded / DEPART SYDNEY FOR MELBOURNE since last Tuesday. Bit of searching online suggested that it means it has not even been picked up yet.

Based on what you said, sounds like appliances central did not go for express courier despite using that.

Ugh. 2 weeks. But I'm glad you got your TV in the end.

        • Just got scanned into depot.
