Over 200 Best Seller Audiobooks - Audible Members Only - $8.99 each @ Audible AU

190

Appears a heap of decent titles all priced well at $8.99. Received via email but I believe should be available for anyone who is an Audible member/subscriber.

Our sale is on now! Use the menu below to browse 200+ audiobooks at $8.99 each, until Wed 19 December, 11.55pm. Members only.

Also another good trick is it's always worth checking the Kindle Book + Audible Narration price, a lot of the time specially if books on sale you can get the audiobook much cheaper than full price.

  • don't use your free monthly book on these right?

    • Not unless you don't think you'll use all the credits otherwise.

    • I try to look at the cost of a credit. If the book is worth more then use the credit. If the book is worth less & you want the book anyway, consider buying it.

    • I have a bunch of credits building up because I keep finding the books I want otherwise for cheaper than the $16 via Kindle + Audible Narration.

Very frustrating is appears there used to be ability to gift books by using your credits, was going to do this for a mate but then found its not possible anymore, only thing you can do is recommend a book, which on the first time for them gives to them for free, but you can only recommend a book you own? Just beyond stupid..!

      • It works out particularly well if the kindle book is also on sale.

Though I find plenty of books that I want which are worth more than the credit.

      • Consider pausing your subscription or switch to the silver plan (credits every other month).

        • Yep planning to stop on 6th month. There was a promo you get 3x at half price and then on 6th an extra credit.

This is a great sale. Best seller audiobooks are not typically much cheaper than this.

I would highly recommend the Joe Abercrombie First Law trilogy (first two books are in this sale). One of my favourite fantasy books, and the narration is second to none.

Also the Legend of Drizzt books, Bobiverse (check whispersync pricing as it's usually pretty cheap anyway), Dresden Files are good if a bit lighter reading (listening?).

The Bryce Courtney have a great narrator (Humphrey Bower) - I always grab them when on sale. I saw Tandia in the list (sequel to Power of One).

Honestly there's a bunch of great books - I'll be picking up a few. Good opportunity to use the free $20 credit if you bought 3 books back in October.

    • Casually drops book title with Drizzt…..33 books in the series. :)

      • Haha, yeah I'm only about 1/3 of the way through - not enough sales! Dresden Files has 15 or so books now too.

    • Should I read the Blade Itself or Best Served Cold first? I thought Blade Itself was Book 1 of the trilogy and Best Served Cold was a standalone.

      • Sorry you're absolutely right. Blade itself is book 1 - start there.

Best served cold is book one of the "First Law World" books which share some of the same characters.

  • Looks good, but I'll stick with my Audible US account for now

    • +1

I've got both. The US site keeps getting more and more locked down, while the AU site is getting more and more titles. Means you need to switch between them in the app (log out and change domain then log back in) which is a bit of a pain and makes it hard to track which books you own, but sometimes worth the hassle. There are also different narrators for certain books depending on region, so nice if you can choose.

      • I’m pretty sure there’s the option to transfer the US account over to AU which I might do at some stage.

Hopefully it merges together with my existing AU account.

I haven’t looked into yet. Because I am enjoying the perks of both for now

    • I have both

  • Has anyone found much price difference checking US & AU before buying. Both with kindle books & audible.

    • Looked at buying 3 credits a while back and Aus ends up being cheaper.

    • US site has occasionally (maybe once a year for last two years) had 12 credits for USD$99. I think you pay GST on top of that but they end up about AUD$12.50 ea. I think that's the cheapest I've seen credits?

  • Audible newbie question: Why Audible and not Kindle, since (if I'm getting it right) the latter gives you text AND audio?

    • +1

      Kindle doesn’t give you audio

You can buy the Audible audiobook of many titles through the Kindle store. For "Whispersync" titles it will sync your progress between audiobook and ebook so you can switch between them.

If you buy a Kindle ebook, you can sometimes add the Audible narration for a small fee. Occasionally buying both of these is actually cheaper than getting just the audiobook so it works out to be a great deal, and you do actually get the Audible book added to your Audible account - you can access it from the Audible app, or from the Kindle app. This is usually called Whispersync, and allows you to sync progress between the ebook and audiobook.

However with Audible, you typically buy books using the credits you get monthly with your membership (although you can also buy them during sales etc without using credits). Depending on the title this is usually cheaper than getting ebook+audiobook through Kindle.

As an aside, I don't know how many Kindle readers actually have a headphone jack. In the iOS/Android app you can play audio, but my paperwhite (for instance) doesn't have a jack or speaker. I do think there are models which have jacks - just not sure which ones.

      • Thanks for the detailed reply "3"
PS. How did you score that awesome username?!?!
