Humble Bundle Subscription 12 Months for $99 USD ($138 AUD)

490

Usually works out to be $11 x 12 months = $132 USD. You get about 3 x $30+ premium games, and a whole bunch of filler per month. So even if you paid $12 USD a month, you'd still be paying way less than any Steam special. I've also noticed Steam games are generally more expensive, and the sale discounts pretty poor since listing prices in Aussie dollars. So I now rely on Humble Bundle for most of my Steam keys. Ends December 15th.

If you're curious to see what the past Humble Bundle Monthlys had.

    • Using a desktop browser, the Web site allows you to look at the deals from the past months (just keeps on clicking on the right arrow icon/image).

  • Nice, My last yearly subscription just ended, I can't remember if I got any sort of deal this time last year but this seems like the best yet?

  • +7

Just be warned that they're getting worse and worse. I've paused the last 3 months and not regretted it.

    • +1

Yep I've paused like 4 out of the last 6. Hollow knight was the last game that I really found interesting in the headliner :<

    • +2

It's an awesome month for me. Project Cars has never been this cheap. Just curious though about pausing. Can you please tell us how to do it? I can see the manage your subscription page but I'm not sure when you actually pause. Do you just pause it before you claim the unlocks or do you just keep it paused all the time then unpause it when you want to claim a month?

      • Second time I've got monthly myself. PC2 was it for me, had wizard of legend on wishlist for a while too so that was a nice score, and no doubt I'll dl and get some fun hours out of JC3.

Pause I think just stops the subscription / auto purchase for a month. Just read the description on their site:
"Already have this month's early unlock? Taking a month long nap? Can you skip a Humble Monthly? Yes you can!"

      • You hit 'cancel subscription' and it then gives you the option to pause instead.

  • Finally a good deal.

    • Yea but they had a really good game as a signing bonus before this, sort of sad I mised out on that but would have had to pay like $50 extra for it.

      • Which game would that be, with the money saved you can just buy it outright.

  • +2

The latest Bundle was disappointed because I already had half the games purchased from previous sales, like MGS 5. Humble Monthly used to include games before they ever reached the 75% off discounting stage (eg Total War Warhammer).

"I've also noticed Steam games are generally more expensive". Same here, average price on stores using regional Australia pricing is 8% more expensive now. On some stores you can use VPNs to get American pricing but not Steam of course.

    • Yeah, I feel ya. I bought the Metalgear pack for around $5? which was listed on Ozbargain just the month before it was on Humble Bundle. But I got that month anyway for all the little games.

      • Imagine how those people feel that got humble bundle for destiny 2 than 1 or 2 months later blizzard were giving it away for free

    • Noticed a lot of stores were cheaper years ago. I remember setting up an alt steam account for this. I think it was GTAV on release in china region was only $30usd. Made it worth the VPN effort, and have used it on a couple other games since too.

  • I only play a number of games so far as I don’t enjoy other games anymore but I found cdkeys.com to have a good price (sale).

Seriously tempted to bite the bullet on this one and buy 12 months. I need to leave something for my grand kids, and 350 steam games might not be enough.

Pretty average early unlocks for January though. Honestly I have my finger on the pay button but JC3 is staring me right in the face and telling me no.

    • They usually do $20-25 credit, with this deal you actually get $33 usd off upfront, i dont think there has ever been a better deal for 12 months humble bundle.

      • Hmm yea, but first month looks like a write off >.<

        • Pause it.

    • +3

You can buy the annual and then pause for January, that's what I'm doing. Already have JC3 and Project Cars 2 is AU$9 on key sites if I decide I want it later.

      • I didn't know this! Thanks for the heads up.

      • I'll consider doing that, cheers for the info.

      • Oh? Can you just continue to pause until you get a good one? So an annual subscriptions could last you like 3 years?

This is the charity-turned-company, right? That's a pretty disgusting business practice. Ethics aside, apparently the value of these is now shit.

    • +2

They still have the charity donations (5% for Monthly I think) and the bundle deals still allow you to change the donation/developer/humble money allocation including up to 100% to the charity.

After saying that though Humble Bundle was bought out by IGN which many consider a conflict of interest as they could theoretically manipulate game ratings and push sales to their store etc.

Some people have noted that the last few months have been poor. Well, you can't please everyone, all the time. The last few months would have been pretty good for me. This month is pretty damn good if you ask me. I'm getting it just for Project Cars 2. It's never been this price before and everything else is just gravy. They had this deal a few weeks ago and I was disappointed I missed out. Was willing to wait until the last moment for another deal. Well, here it is. As some others have noted though, you can pause whenever you want so essentially you can get 12 good months, maybe 11 if this one is no good for you.

    • Make sure you really want to play Project Cars 2, rather than because the cost is low. I sold my Project Cars 2 to EB Games for $8 (I would have taken any price just to get rid of it). I played less than 1 hour in total on that game. I enjoyed Forza Horizon series way more (played FH2,3,4 and enjoyed them a lot. Also played Forza Motorsport 7). Forza Horizon 4 is on GamePass and as it is a PlayAnywhere title, you can play it on PC running Windows 10. You can have GamePass for $1 this month.

Suggest you make sure you really like the games on offer. I have XB1X, PS4 Pro and PC so most of the games were discounted (even the PC version). Pretty much all the decent ones were on PS Plus, XB Live Gold, and/or GamePass (some are still on GamePass). If you have a pile of shame for 2018 games, it is best to play them, rather than collecting more older games.

      • I've got PC2 on PS4 already. I've been playing it quite a lot lately. I want to get it on PC as sometimes I can't get to the PS4 (It's hooked up to our main tv). I also really want to try to get into VR at some stage which I will do on my PC rather than PS4. I also don't know if I really like games like Forza that much. Too arcady for my liking. I did try it once on the X Box and it was really beautiful. I haven't gotten around to upgrading to Windows 10 so it's not an option right now anyway.

        • Only two stores has this:
          https://ebgames.com.au/pc-218497-Project-CARS-2-Limited-Edit…

I am not sure whether the game progress can be transferred to PC easily. I guess $12 USD is a good deal for a game you really enjoy. Not sure about $99 USD for 12 months though.

          • @netsurfer: I'm pretty sure I'm going to find other months that are good. Previous months bundles have been pretty good. I'm not that concerned about game progress either. I don't really care about achievements and trophies.

            • @ozbs25: Game progress - was kinda referring to career mode, cars and tracks. I didn't play the game long enough, but I was hoping all cars and tracks would be unlocked right away (I probably did something wrong but they weren't unlocked right away).

      • If you have a pile of shame for 2018 games, it is best to play them, rather than collecting more older games.

Behold, my pile of shame: https://steamcommunity.com/id/fenrisulvur/games/?tab=all

There are also substantial backlogs on Xbox and Uplay.

        Send help.

(I just pulled the trigger on this deal, fwiw.)

  • Humble Monthly Bundle is the terrible version of buying a whole load of games and never playing them, terrible because you don't even get to pick them.

Though you feel a little better when you don't play them because you didn't.

  • +1

And of course, i finally decide to get this only to find it expired 2 days previous..
    arrgghh
