How to Claim TRS on Perfume at Adelaide Airport?

Hi,

Just wondering how to claim TRS on items that must be checked in (eg, perfume). To get to the TRS facility you must have completed checking in and security custom etc… Therefore you can not present the items (perfumes) along with receipt to claim TRS.

Has anyone claimed TRS on such items at Adelaide Airport?

TIA

  • You can get them to sight the good before you checked your bags in.

From memory, it is located on the ground floor, next to the international passengers exit.

    • Thanks.
The info on Adelaide Airport website is not very clear in this case.

  • According to this info on Adelaide Airport, these items are not required to be sighted at all….

"• wear or carry the goods on board as hand luggage (unless they are liquids, gels or aerosols or oversized or bulky goods which the airline requires to be checked in) and present them along with your tax invoice, passport and international boarding pass to the TRS facility;"

    • I realise this is an old post and I may be too late, but I believe this is wrong. I've done the TRS thing may times at Adelaide Airport. They need to sight the goods and invoices. As RyanMK said they have a small office before check-in, on the ground floor near the toilets and international arrivals. There are some instructions on a sign which include pressing a buzzer to call an AFP officer to come to check your goods. You will get some paperwork from them, then go check your bags and go through security. Once you're through to the international departures area there is another TRS office where you should show your paperwork and sort out payment.

FYI, the tax invoices can have different dates but must have the same ABN. There are some businesses which have different ABN's for different branches, Chemist Warehouse is a notable example.

  • did you buy more than $300 worth of perfume?

    • Yes.
