Tigerair Industrial Action

Just a heads up to anyone who has booked a Tiger flight between the 21st and 24th industrial action period - Tiger is providing refunds and cancellations if your flight is in that period. Just had mine refunded for a flight on Friday night.

It's more than likely that flights will be cancelled, and if not will have big delays based on the go slows announced.

    Thanks for the info.
But how will anyone notice if they are on a 'go slow'?

    • LOL… its funny cause in my exp.. Tiger are the most reliable of the budget airlines.

    • I imagine the flight will arrive late, compound this with regular delays there is going to be a few very late flights

Damn, that must suck for families who'd had Christmas holidays planned months in advance.

They had it coming if they booked Tiger.

Ehh…. for a lot of people, it's either "book holiday with budget airline" or "not having a holiday this year kids".

I'm not known for having any sympathy for poor people just because they're poor, but this? This isn't their fault.

        • We're finally seeing your softer side HighAndDry. :)

  • Haven’t seen a refund come through for a leg from Cairns to Brisbane in the PM on Friday - anyway of confirming? Happy to call, but don’t want to wait on hold if there is a known answer for this already?

Edit - checked the website - appears nothing has changed just yet… although they should check their wording… or at least use more appropriate wording (…contingency …. “Tigerair has continency plans…”)

    • Correct I did not see anything on the website however did not want to take the risk of being cancelled while at the airport. I called and asked and they refunded without questions.

  • Waiting for the don't book budget airline comments…

  • How did you get a refund? Did you just call and ask?

    • I just called and asked, told them the date and they confirmed yes there is industrial action and they refunded no questions asked

      • We booked through Expedia package, don't know if they would refund that easily. Otherwise might just take a risk, it's an 11am flight…

  • How is it that you can still book flights for those dates on their website?

Surprisingly there are still some reasonably priced fares available considering the time of year.

  • Wonder if it's related. Disgruntled customer??

  • Id avoid this mob going forward as this will probably drag on a bit.

Pilot Strike this Friday, 75% of crew between 5-9am which effectively renders the operation grounded in this time. Flow on effects over the busy long weekend wont be great.

Then Sat-Mon Crew not flying if non safety related defects are present.
