Short Term Stay in Melbourne

Hi all,

I am looking for a short term stay accommodation in Melbourne for the month of Feb. This is for two people and I am after a fully furnished home/apartment with kitchen included and a suitable car park.

I was looking at AirBnb, however I saw that I cannot cancel without paying a cancellation fee.

Any ideas of alternative options? My budget is $90 per night and I will need a receipt for my expenses (so has to be a ABN).

Thanks!

Find free accom through /r/Couchsurfing subreddit then hang around motels to find receipts. Infinite money hack

  • Why would you cancel…?

    • Feb is quite far away. In case our plan changes then I will need to cancel.

I am also looking for something like serviced apartments. So have a full apartment and a kitchen included.

It's 6 weeks away, no way would I define that as far away.

It's also peak season. No way is anyone letting you cancel, and leave them no chance of finding another customer, without making you pay a fee.

  • I've checked Hostelworld.com and there seems to be a number of hostels which offer a private room at your budget. You'll be able to get a tax receipt and have access to all the facilities you require, while still being within a reasonable city location. Only issue is car parking.

Here's an example at $85 / night: Flinders Backpackers

EDIT: Found one in your budget with parking. Just have a browse around, I'm sure you'll find something you like the look of.

  • Under the train tracks on the North bank of the yarra.

    • oi! you dissing that place? that's where I used to live! :P

  • No way are you going to find what you are after for such a small amount of money.

Either backpackers or air bnb is your best choice.
