Help with Chromecast

In need of advice,
For work I have to travel Mon-fri, I was thinking of getting a Chromecast (probably the 3), so that I can plug and play Netflix and kayo sports,
I've got few questions with it

  1. would I be able to plug and play every time I plug the Chromecast on to the tv, or will I need to "set it up"?

  2. I hotspot my phone for broadband, can I play Netflix and kayo sports through my phone and still use the hotspot? Or does a Chromecast have it's own inbuilt kayo and Netflix apps?

  3. Say I play something through my laptop, can the laptop and the Chromecast work with both connected to the hotspot

Thanks

  • Chrome cast recognizes the domain it is connected to. If your Chromecast is always connected via the same hotspot, you should be fine. It will take a few minutes for your chromecast to boot up but it should join your hotspot by default.

I don't see why multiple devices connecting to the hotspot should cause 4G to not work.

  • You will probably have more luck using your phone as the hotspot and then casting from your laptop, rather than using your phone as the hotspot and casting from your phone. I didn’t have much luck with the latter, but had no issue using casting from a second phone that was also using phone 1 as the hotspot.

  • is this a hotel tv (usually locked down) or a TV in a rented apartment.
