SUNBEAM Café Series® Conical Burr Coffee Grinder EM0480

I am looking for one of these grinders so I can start to take my coffee seriously and start using my machine again which has been neglected for about 12 months.

I don't mind if its used! Want to pay somewhere around $100. I looked up a few second hand sales and they seemed to go for around $70. Myer sells them new for $170 but i'd rather not pay that much!

Help guys

  • Any reason you must have the EM0480 (even though I have one and it looks very nice on the bench)?

The EM0450 is a conical burr grinder without being a cafe series model. Not sure if they are identical internally but I suspect they might be. The EM0450 has an RRP of $139 so much better chance of getting it close to $100.

    • The 450 is supposedly the same internal machinery as the 480, and that's according to Sunbeam. (I'd provide the link but I read it back in Jan and wouldn't know where to start looking)

We have a spare 480 (new, came with our 6910 coffee machine) but not at $100…

      • yes, em0450 is the same as em0480 but without metal exterior - it's the best budget grinder :)

  • The EM0480 seems to be most popular and highly reccomended on coffee snobs and it looks good and durable.

    • breville smart grinder is even better (and more expensive) - it's perhaps the best value grinder around :)

  • Fantasic grinder, love ours. Got it on ebay, brand new for $90! Bargain!

  • Lucky man. My plan at the moment is to keep an eye on ebay and coffeesnobs for the next good value one. Theres some idiot on there who I offered $110 for it pickup yesterday and he says he wont take less than $150 and wont end the auction early for anyone. and its used, over a year old.. hes dreamin!

  • Just thinking about what scubacoles said above…

Could you buy a Sunbeam machine and grinder as a package, then sell the machine only?

Just an example - get this for $629 (which probably has the cheaper grinder)

Then sell the 6910 for $550 or so brand new in box - would that work?
