What happened to Neato? Used to be quite popular couple years ago before Xiaomi and I think it's still one of the better brand out there.

    • From the forum topics, seems when they die people get the xiaomi. Maybe neato costs more but xiaomi does just a good job cleaning?

      • My neato is still going 5(?) years on

        • I researched like a madman before buying mine.

Neato botvwc connected series had best reviews for speed and vacuuming performance.

Xiaomi used the same technology. Seems to have similar vacuuming results byt is a little slower.

This was 3+ years ago. Not sure if the landcape has changed. Still love my Neato.

@mooney: The thing I like about neato is that the owner is passionate about robotics. He enters robots into robot wars.

  • Interestingly I was curious about the Dyson one but it never seemed to take off meaning maybe it wasn't very good or too expensive for its own good like all Dyson products but if it is of the same calibre as their v series cordless range then it might be worth looking at.

Next iteration of the Dyson 360 Eye here is to hoping they get it right this time price wise and performance and feature wise.

They seem to be really good at their other vacuum range so maybe they can do well in the robot vacuum race?

Fairly recent article so hopefully they have been watching and learning from their competition.

  • You can get the Xiaomi vac for $350, and it includes LIDAR mapping.
Most other top-spec vacuums seem to be around $1200.
    It's not really a comparison.

  • You're missing the "Wife" option.

That option has decided we need a robot vacuum at our place

    • This is an expensive way to get clean floors!

  • Hmm I thought I read somewhere Roomba had the highest sales?

I also saw something on the interwebs that said Dyson's model was a failure and Roomba's was better?

  • I bought one of the first Samsung Powerbots nearly 4 years ago. The smart home app was horrible (I stopped using it a few years ago) and its ability to do edges is average. On the plus side, the mapping is good, and the sucking power still is phenomenal, even after a few years.

It manages to do an average sized 3 bedroom house easily. By about the last/second last room you can hear it starting to lose power as the battery starts to run out. Not bad after 3+ years. The bin is on the smaller size, but we normally get 2-3 uses between cleans. It does pet hair incredibly well too.

I've read the new models are even better, and actually do edges much better too. The price has come down too (I think they peaked at $1500!!). Saying that our next model will probably be the Xiaomi, purely for the additional mopping function.

  • I'd have to go with the Roomba since it's what I have been using although I have to commend xiaomi's robot vacuum wheels!! They're ginormous all right. Can just about slide through obstacles. Though cleaning wise, I'd have to stick with Roomba even if it's noisy when it cleans, lol. Carpet vacuuming with this thing is easybreazy. They're just quite expensive compared to Xiaomi which has almost similar tech.

    • are the Roomba's / Xiaomi's Wheels easily removeable? Do they get tangled like with hair??

  • Kogan just released their own, any opinions?

    • been looking everywhere to find any review of Kogan LX10 robot vacuum and could never find one. Any kind of forums are dominated by Xiaomi
