How do these fair as runners?

    • +1

      https://runrepeat.com/adidas-ultra-boost

I use them as casual shoes so can't comment on running but the only problem I have is keeping the boost white, apart from that they are one of the comfiest shoes on the market

      • +3

I use the oil based white Sharpie on mine to keep them white. Costs about $6 from Bunnings. Can probably get about 4-5 applications from a single pen and each application lasts several weeks to a month with regular wear.

        • Have you tried using black sharpie to dye them black? If you have tried, I wanna know.
i havent tried it tho. But I dont wanna keep dying them white whenever it get mud or dirt.

          • @GemtoGem: black works, just make sure you use the oil based one. but if you scuff them its gonna show the white underneath. you can also coat over it with acrylic finisher/coating (after painting it black) for extra protection

Ultraboost are rubbish for running, the soles wear out quite quickly. The shoe itself however is comfortable. I'd look at Saucony or Salomon for proper running shoes.

      • They’re not rubbish for running. Did a marathon on them and was super happy with their performance and my time

      • +1

Man you have to old generations. The one with the Continental soles last really long

      • +2

Looks like I'm the only one +1 your comment. They aren't really rubbish for running though, but IMHO there are definitely many more suitable running shoes out there. Each to their own I guess. A pair of shoes is good for running as long as they are comfortable, but for me, UltraBoost is a tad too heavy, midsole a bit too soft, and lack of extra shoelace holes means likely heel slip when you pick up the pace. And knit upper — some people like it, some people don't.

        • Scotty, what would you recommend?

          • +1

@Hogg: If just from adidas for running, maybe Adizero Boston, Adios (note: Adios 4 just got released) or even PureBoost DPR.

I do have a problem with runrepeat.com though & their rating, as they collate & analyse reviews from other places (Amazon for example) but often people give good reviews to some shoes because of how plush they feel, rather than how good they are for running, but still resulting a good score of runrepeat.com. I bought an adidas Duramo 8 earlier this year due to high score (and low price :) but I almost want to throw them to the bin after first run. I later went back to check the reviews and found most reviewers don't run in them.

            • @scotty: Thanks for the detailed recommendation and also the tip for runrepeat.

I'm not a show connoisseur so all the choices and funky names confuse me. I only know UltraBoost because it seems to be the most discussed by lay people.

I have a pair of Boost from 2012-2013 that I use on the treadmill 15-30 min, 3x times a week. Still going well and I plan to get another 3-4 years out of them (I am fully aware of the recommended life of running shoes but I like to "sweat my assets"). I can't say how fast the rubber wears out if you run on concrete or asphalt; I only run indoors.
I got a second pair of Ultra Boost last year and one this year for my mom.

The reason I'm sold on this type of adidas is the foam which to me seems to have the most cushion. I went to a store and tried nike (lunar glide and air), saucony and rebook: one shoe of from a brand in a the left foot and another brand in the other. Adidas seemed to be the best for walking/running on a hard surface.

      • Same experience.
Great shoes, still going strong after 3years with regular casual and gym use.

        • I bought too many pairs lul

    • -1

they're heavy compared to my nike flyknit racer. i prefer the nike better.

      • They are different shoes, I have got both flyknit and UB, UB is bit more comfy, but much heavier than flyknit racers. I think lots of ppl actually prefer a minimal design. So basically even you have many shoes, you might just stick to 2 - 3 pairs you wear, the others are all in storage.

    • Around the 3 to 4km mark, my Kayano 21 always starts feeling heavy. However with my recently bought Ultra boosts, they feel lighter around the same mark. But I have a feeling the foam sole on the boost will soften fairly quickly at the rate I'm going. Whereas my kayanos are solid even after 2 years of regular outdoor running.

    • They are awesome! Best runners I have had..

  • Also the 'uncaged' version at the same price point: https://www.adidas.com.au/ultraboost-uncaged-shoes/DA9163.ht…

  • Thanks for the deal, just coped the rainbow colourway, very very nice, you won't get that price from outlets

    • Saw some Ultra Boost Uncaged at the DFO outlet in Brisbane for $99 earlier this week if I remember correctly.

      • i went there today, grab a pair of uncaged ub

  • -3

Is this the pre-boxing day sale from Adidas? If not, I'll hold until its boxing day for a better deal

    • The good colourways generally will be sold out, buy it now otherwise you will regret, I just been to the outlet this morning

  • What’s $2 so I can get free shipping?

    • -1

buy 2 return one, but you may lose 10% cash reward

      • Can you transfer 10% of credits to your paypal? let's say you got $10 in credits?

        • what do you mean? and why the -1 ?

          • @SS625: I mean when you receive cashback credits from your purchase, can you transfer that amount of credits to paypal? I am sorry for the confusion

            • @Yaren24: as far as i know, no…. you can only withdraw to bank account

  • I wear size 9.5 uk, should I order one size up like 10.5 or 11, like reading from other thread?

My wife is 6.5 on nmd, but just tried ultraboost yesterday, the 6.5 on ultraboost is extremely tight.

    • See the conversion on their website. I wear UK 10 which was 10.5US for Adidas..

    • +1

Order 1 (or half size?) size up. All my shoes are US8 but i need US8.5 for UB.

    • Half size up.

  • thanks OP got a pair and a few Tees :D

  • The sizes mentioned on the website are US sizes right? Or UK?

    • +2

      US sizes

Is this code accepted through Cashrewards? @TA

    • $115.81 after cashback, Thanks OP!

      • Hi Saucy, can you transfer cashback to your paypal? thanks!

        • +1

I believe so. You just have to wait until the cashback is available in a few months, then claim it back to your bank account. Then I guess you can just transfer it over to PayPal.

          • @Saucy Morsels: Thanks Saucy, I am just happy to transfer credits to paypal so you can use it. I recall few weeks ago my cashback credits expired and I didn't transfer to my paypal

Brown one is best, the other colours are trash. Feel bad for anyone buying anything other than brown.

  • adidas ultraboost or nike react?

    • +1

Ultraboost hands down. Bought epic react, returned it back to Nike. Not as good.

    • I have both and like both for different reasons.

UB: Boost is definitely softer and more comfortable for casual wear. There have been complaints about the rubber on Ultraboost 4.0 wearing down very fast.

React: Firmer than Boost, feels "supportive" when I run with them, the foam has a "spring' like effect. They do seem to wear out fast though with the Epic reacts. I purchased a pair of Odyssey Reacts recently and in theory they should last longer as there is more rubber on sole to protect the React foam. Epic Reacts also run small, so I'd suggest going half or one size up.

      • I swear I bought so many pairs this year. I need to stop coming to Ozbargain :P

  • +1

Done needed a new pair cheers

  • Bought an uncaged ultraboost pair each for me & missus… thank you

  • +1

Is it just me getting old or are most shoes now just white foam and some soft mesh material with no / little rubber on the bottom?

    • +2

      I think you’re getting old.

  • These were $99 a couple of months ago and everyone then hated the colour. Lucky I bought some!

  • bought uncaged. cheers.

  • Great shoes, go half size up. Colours are not so great in my opinion

  • -8

They are going for $99 at adidas factory outlet in harbour town and DFO couple of weeks ago.

    • +3

Why didn't you post that information here couple of weeks ago?

      • -1

I thought that was the going rate, didn't think anything special of it. Seeing people jacking this post up, thought better let community know they are $99 usueally. I see another two posters have also confirmed $99 price in comments.

  • Has anyone gotten an email confirming cashback tracking via cash rewards using this coupon? I've ordered but received no email.

    • +1

I did. I ordered just after midnight and the cash rewards email came through at about 6 AM.

      • Hi MissMurd, just curious if you can transfer cashback credits to your paypal after pending?

        • +1

Yaren, I do. You must first wait until you have at least $10.01 of verified cashbacks in your Cash rewards account before you can get it transferred over.

"All confirmed and available rewards balances that total over $10.01 are available for payment. "

  • Got a UB earlier…very comfortable shoes, but sole got crack very soon, didn’t ever complete 100km. So I returned as it was under warranty.

    • Great casual shoe, and an ok runner, I prefer the extra stability in the ST and the cheaper Supernova ST and Solars ST, but wear very quickly. I'm hanging out for a Nike sale to grab a pair of the Pegasus Turbos.

I just need to seel some UBs, I have 9 pair I'm gradually selling or retiring due to wear.

  • Womens ultraboost for the same price as well..

  • Just ordered 3 pairs of ultraviolet via cash reward. Extra 30 plus the 10% via cash reward.

    How good.

    Well done all!!

  • Bought a multicolour pair… Checked my email somehow the red ones were in my basket… ty adidas
