Is The iPhone XR Going to Get Discounted on a Plan Anymore?

It is currently $71 on Vodafone for 24 months and $84 or $81 on Optus with promo and student discount respectively.

I have been holding out for something similar to last year but not sure. Any one else in same situation?

  • Maybe

  • Yes

  • How do we know ? Why don’t you ask Optus or Vodafone ?

    • Or maybe ask Apple boss directly?

    • I am not expecting a definite answer. However, I expect the phones to be on sale as the sales numbers for iPhones has plummeted. Just wanted to see if anyone else is holding out or what do they think?

  • Are those prices to own or lease?

  • Maybe Yes, Maybe No.

  • I’m with Optus and have been on a No Sim plan, $52 for 80GB/mth, with an older (But still no complaints from me!) iPhone 6S Plus (Wow, I really must be still living in a cave then right..!) for a while now. I don’t want to change carriers as I am happy with what I have with Optus. I barely go over 5GB of data per month (as I am guessing most people wouldn’t)!
However it seems Optus’s new iPhone XR/XS/XS Max deals are still way too overpriced…

Firstly, there’s the HDD storage. Anyone in their right mind would choose at least 128GB to cover you for as long as you can outlive your new phone for.
Then, there’s the option to either Lease or Own the phone. But what if something happens to the phone while your on contract?! It’s such a stupid thing to make people have to hand the phone back at the end of the contract. I myself need to keep my phone. Then, these crazy data deals are now all the craze - 100GB, 200GB plans, if only you spend another $20! Outrageous.

I would believe that maybe 5% of the country would reach even half this data amount per month - every one else already has an internet connection!
I’m sorry to say but Optus has turned into somewhat of a rip-off merchant, with their looonngg-time 24 month contracts, ‘Leasing’ deals, smaller HDD capacity phones and their incredible pricing on their 200GB plans (Let alone offering such a crazy amount of data - it’s good for some, but most people but need it or use it, but still pay for it!). They’re really going all out now - and it’s the ‘no brainers’ who are falling for it.

    Examples:

    Optus IPhone XR current deal:

Optus IPhone XS & XS Max current deals:

And the standard iPhone X’s with Optus aren’t even a better price!

And neither are the iPhone 8’s - they are now only being offered in 64GB sizes now.

Here’s hoping Optus stops trying to lock all of their customers into these overly-expensive and outrageous contracts that are just too much money, some costing over $3,500 in total over a 24 month period (sign your life away to the devil, because it’s just ‘so important’ to get a more faster phone.. :/ ) and starts actually offering reasonably priced, suitable data amounts, and better deals on iPhones soon….
