Sydney Chinatown parking

Hi, any cheap or free parking on Christmas or Boxing Day near Sydney Chinatown (within 15 or 20min walk)? I'm visiting from interstate for a week.

Other states have free parking on Public Holidays but not Sydney unfortunately.

Cheers and Merry Christmas.

  • Try Wilson. They sometimes run $15 all day parking.

    • Thanks, will do.

MY car is parked there now, but is pretty pricey for a few days.

      Trying to save some coin.

Avoid driving in the CBD. Have look on google maps and you'll understand.

    • Ehh, I live smack bang in CBD and traffic is perfectly fine daily. Some traffic light turns take a long time due to the silly "cars + crossing pedestrians both green" system but it's constantly flowing. Sydney doesn't have a traffic problem compared to any other city especially London.

I would suggest have a look at World Square and Goulburn St car parks if they have have any offers. Market City probably unlikely.

      • I'm talking about the road works.

      • Checked World Square and Goulburn Street car parks run by Secure Parking.

Unfortunately no deals if you're leaving your car overnight.

    • Roads, even CBD are pretty this time of year.

Only driving in due to staying here over Christmas.

Car won't be needed for our time in Sydney.

Find free street parking outside of the CBD perhaps? Eg near a train station? Then it's a short train trip to your car. Not sure which train station would be the most convenient…maybe Waverton or Wollstonecraft…but these two places whilst considered "safe" suburbs, get packed for NYE fireworks, so be warned.

  • Park at Market City only $12 weekends $20 weekdays for early bird park between 6am and 10am, exit between 4pm and 8pm. Park on Level B3 only for rate to apply

  • Broadway Shopping Centre does 2hr free parking or free after 6pm.

    15-20 min walk to Chinatown.

    • Great to know for next time but I also need parking during the day

  • Thanks everyone, wish I parked outside and trained it in a few days ago, but since I only need a few more days, I plan to do is book a parking bay from Wilson Novotel Haymarket (Hotel we are staying at).

If I leave the car there for a few days straight, it's
    ~$30.50 per day.

However, if I make separate bookings from 7am to 6am each day and move the car in and out, it's $18.50 as Christmas daily parking.

As the entry/exit time has a 1 hour grace period, there is a 1 hour window to move the car.
