Harvey Norman Bathroom Price Negotiations

I'm planning to do full bathroom reno and will be buying 2 vanities and tiles from HN.

They currently have all those items on sale until end of January at the moment, and I was told that they couldn't give further discount even if I'm buying a few items as they're already on sale price.

Is that correct?

I would not think that there is an overarching rule. It depends on the items, the staff member and the manager. I know for a fact they can drop lower than sale price though

Thats definitely something a sales person would say if thats what your asking. Usually if the price is closer to their buying price or its already discounted I'd imagine the go to is to leave it at this price. Also Harvey Norman employees get commission as far as I know, so the more expensive they sell it to you, the better for the staff.

In saying that they can sell it at whatever price they like, I have once bought an item there at below cost price, (or at least thats what they told me, and I saw it on their computer screen as well that it was $20 below). But the guy had to talk to his manager about it, and I think sold it because they wanted to stock to push forward.

There's no law or policy saying they have to give further discounts for multiple purchases. They have the right to say no and you have the right to call their bluff (if they are) and walk away.

Your first mistake is going to harvey norman for bathroom items, they have huge markeups, you want to goto your local wholesale distributors, who supply tradespeople.

    • Im after timberline vanities, which are custom order. Wholesaler is not an option.
