Hi, I was directed to these bikes when searching for a mountain bike and since I don't have much knowledge about bikes, I would like to know which one is better, pros & cons or is there a better bike for the price range. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Alivio gear set and m445 hydraulic brakes are ok for general commuting. Shocks are useless below several hundred $ and add weight, if they can be locked out, do it.

If you just want a fairly robust and heavy commuter bike, ,these should do ok if set up and fitted correctly. You wouldn't go down a fire trail on one, at least, not more than once! They're a step up from BSO's on kmart I guess.

I ride a giant roam, probably not significantly different, but with regular v brakes, no commuter needs disks and they're heavy and expensive and you have to spend $ to get decent ones. Still, weights a ton, but with panniers on a commute who cares, costs peanuts and reliable as hell!

What are you going to be riding? I.e. Terrain / Specific examples

    • Light trails and commuting

  • The first bike seems to be mostly sold out in stores

  • Both are basic, a step above Kmart bikes. What are you likely to be riding? Probably ok for light duty path riding or as a strong (but not fast) commuter but not enough for off road other than smooth fire trails.

Plot twist; you don’t!! Go to a propper bike shop.
Believe me better solution overall. The number of people I know who’ve tried to go the “cheap” option only to have it come back & nite them. It’s bad
