PSA: Netflix Has Permanently Removed iTunes Billing as a Payment Option

It was trialed back in mid year and it's now here to stay. Personally I just resubbed last month using iTunes billing after several failed attempts of subscribing via Argentina/Turkey. Had I not made it in time I'd have ~$300 iTunes credit sitting there which I acquired through various iTunes GC deal over the years solely for Netflix (I do own iOS devices but I hardly buy any apps)

Looks like I can ignore all future iTunes GC deals from now on.

    I pay my tax debt with iTunes cards. Didn't know about Netflix though.

        The ATO called me. It was a nice man with a thick subcontinent accent. He was very friendly in advising me that I forgot to pay a tax debt of $3000. I apologised and he said that if I got to Coles and purchase $2700 in iTunes vouchers they will wipe off $300 of my debt. I purchased the cards and called them back with the card codes behind the silver panel. He was very grateful and I was just happy that I no longer have a tax debt and in true ozbargain style got a 10% discount.

      Pretty sure it will stay as long as you don't cancel the sub and let it lapse as Google Play billing was removed back in May apparently.

    With Disney soon to be bringing their own subscription service and many licences expiring, will be more interesting to see what is left to watch on Netflix.

    Some of their own shows are great, just not sure if I'd pay only for them.

      Interesting I just used some Bank points and Purkle points to cash up my iTunes account and I unsubbed from Netflix US via iTunes intending t resub here on Aus iTunes. My sub expires in a day or so. I'm going to try and reactivate it on my iPad. Will be interesting to see if I can or not. If I can't then I think that's it for me and Netflix. Sonarr will just start up working again.

    Did they send out anything to their subscribers? I use iTunes, because I try to buy credit at discounted prices, so technically Netflix is also discounted. I don't remember seeing anything about this, and pay for my Netflix this way.

        Netflix grew too big to buy so they gotta compete. Might coincide with Apple television launch.

      It's more likely being ended due to Apple taking a 30% cut of revenue via iTunes… unsustainable.

    iTunes billing for Netflix is not available to new or rejoining Netflix customers. If you are currently billed by iTunes, you can continue to use iTunes billing until your account is cancelled.
