This is basically the same as the Invicta 8926OB but with scalloped edged bezel. It's popular on Amazon US (2457 reviews) & has a big following on Watchuseek for modding.

There will probably be comments about how crap Invicta watches are, and they will most likely be from people who have never owned one. Sure you can spend more and get a better watch, but for this price I consider them a bargain.

I think this comment from Watchuseek member HoustonReal sums it up perfectly, and he knows way more than me -

Even if Invicta is an order of magnitude worse in quality control than Seiko, what does that mean? Do you have a 1/1000 chance of a bad Invicta vs 1/10,000 chance of a bad Seiko? Nobody here has actual statistics about quality and failure rates, so everything is anecdotal. There are lots of people here who have had no problems with their Invictas. There are also a lot of people here who have never owned an Invicta, who will tell you horror stories about someone they heard about who had one.

Buy from someplace with a good return policy, if you're that worried, like Amazon. If Invictas were really as awful as some people here think, they would be out of business. Instead, their big ugly monster watches, not only sell well on Evine, but there are pirated versions of Invicta Reserves being manufactured in China. Do you think Evine would continue hawking Invictas if a significant number of them were getting returned?

Invicta's Pro Diver line is somewhat respected here, with the 8926 being really popular for modding. The 9404 is the same basic model, with different color choices. I have heard people here who have had bad experiences with Orient watches, but that brand seems immune to the hate Invicta garners.

yes, it is a crap watch.
Ppl, get urselfs a sekio 5 with a nice custom leather strap - you will be wearing stylish, automatic watch with a great history.

      • Yes Invicta are notorious for their lousy quality control. HoustonReal has just pulled numbers out of his hat - the odds would be much worse than 1/1000. What makes me laugh is all the YouTube reviews telling me how good they are, while mentioning in passing that theirs leaks or worse…..

Don't know why the OP bothers posting this crap, or tries so hard seeking to defend Invicta - looks like he's earned himself a spell in the Penalty Box for his trouble.

  • Hi WatchNerd, thanks for the post. Right on time for me. I am interested to buy this item. While I was going through amazon, found this "Invicta Men's PRO DIVER Steel Bracelet & Case Quartz Black Dial Watch 8932OB", if you don't mind, could you please explain the difference. I couldnt find the differences online.

That one has a quartz movement, coin edge bezel and a smaller case.

The 8926 is basically a budget 200m Seiko dive watch with an above entry level auto movement. My Seiko SKX007 doesn't even have hacking or hand winding. Sure it has a better quality case, but it's in a totally different price bracket.

      • Thanks WatchNerd for the response. Much appreciated.

check if quartz has screw down crown or only push down. the autos are screw down , and i own some, i avoided the quartz as at the time they were only push down and i wanted for water sports, so screw down was important.

not sure of the quartz has been up dated to screw down crown.

I have a Grand Diver. Smoothest wind of any of my autos (including Swiss ETAs). Has anyone ever taken one of these down 300M? LOL I would add these are seriously heavy, I don't find this an issue, but some may…

    • 24M and it didn’t leak.

  • It'd be rad if they embraced the cult following and included some of the popular changes (No cyclops, plain sides, more interesting dial patterns etc) in a 'special' edition

As is they're pretty eh to me.

Is there one for amateur divers?

    • One of my faves, jv.

My Invicta (9404) is the most precise automatic watch in my collection. Perhaps it was luck. Dial and hands are ugly so I am about to mod it. Will have to replace crystal as well as my attempt to remove cyclops failed. Anyway, this watch is a great project and tons of fun with an outstanding movement in its core.

    • +1

Most accurate automatic watch in my collection also happens to be a watch with this movement.

I wore my 8926OB as my main watch for two months. Sometimes left it a day on my bedside table or in a watch winder. When it was time for it to go back into the watch box, it was at +2. When worn regularly, I think it's about +4/day.

  • Any warranty? Very tempted as water /outdoor activities watch.

I got a blue Invictus that looks like a Rolex submariner, which is a watch that I like the looks of but quite likely never buy.

I brought it into a pool for a swim, and after I got out the glass fogged on the inside. I realised the crown popped out. I dont know if I screwed it in properly or it popped out on its own. I raise a ticket with amazon and they ask me to send it back, but at my cost, so I didnt bother.

I think it is likely I didnt screw it completely and it popped out.

There is some sort of crystallisation on the hand and numbers, but the watch still run. This was about 6 years ago.

it's why I only buy diver watches with screw down crown, guess because I do water sports I always check things are screwed down.

Even on my seamaster, I make sure the helium release valve is screwed down or in normal diving eg 10M it would leak.

There are however helium release valves featuring an additional screw-down crown at the side of the watch. When the diver starts to ascend, the diver simply unscrews the valve's crown to the full open position, allowing any breathing gas that may have been trapped inside the watch to escape during decompression.

    • I purchased my first Invicta while travelling the US in 2007. It was quartz and only 50M WR. I used it for swimming all the time, hence the glass fogged up, and after a few years the crown fell off. Not to be outdone I super glued the crown back on, and just open the case back if I need to adjust the time or change battery. The movement is still very accurate despite its hard life over the past 11 years!

I like the Pro Diver auto and love the Grand Diver auto…never had any problems with them. Invicta do have some quartz Pro Diver watches with screw down crowns. They don't have Invicta on the edge of the case either:)

I have owned two Invictus watches.
First one lost around 12 minutes per day. Amazon replaced it immediately. The replacement (the second) was great for about 2 months, then the band just fell off one day.

I would just warn people to read the Amazon reviews, not just the happy ones.
The quality control seems to be terrible.
You might get lucky, you might get a dud.

    Good luck.

    • Fake Invictas have infected Amazon supply chain. This happened to me on my 3rd Invicta purchase. My first two are my best daily beaters.

  • How is the sizing compared to the Cadison 40mm watch recently? I see that the dial diameter is the same (40mm) - but does that include the bezel around it?

The Cadison watch fits me really well but I wouldn’t want anything larger and worried this one might be larger despite having the same dial size.

    • +1

This is also 40mm including the bezel.
If the Cadisen is fine, this should be too. It will wear smaller due to the bezel.

      • Thanks for that. I’ll probably end up getting one later now.

  • This is a good watch for the price, and I would agree with Watchnerd.
Bought the 9403 pro diver via Amazon prime shipping. The watch face was off by 4 degrees or so, which sucked, but had it fully refunded including shipping via Amazon.

Then proceeded to buy the 8926 as a gift for the father as the rate for which he bangs up his watches matched the price/performance/life expectancy that he wanted. The quality was on point with this one.

Big thanks to Watchnerd for keeping on top of these watch posts

    ewwwww

  • Seems like they have now upped price to $105.30 plus freight, shame as at $83.20 it was pretty darn good.
