What Are Some Working Holiday Visa Available to Us?

Hi ozbargainers,

Over the past year I have spoken to a few travelers in Sydney. One from Germany, one from Korea, another from China. One thing they have in common is that they were all on Working holiday visa.

Apparently, according to the traveller, for Chinese people, only Australia and New Zealand offer working holiday visa to them, no other countries.

So this got me thinking, do we have similar visa available us Australians? What countries can we go and work? Going to other countries and work there for a year can be a new experience.

I did a 1 year working holiday in Canada. It was quite easy to get the visa. Great times.

Lots of countries have them for people between 18-30, they love a young healthy workforce that might stay and end up paying lots of taxes. Once you're over 30 your're largely SOL for the 'working holiday'.

There are a bunch of countries for which visas are easier though for more specialist occupations. There's a special class of visa the USA issues only to Australian's which is apparently dead easy to get.

  • if you have a job in demand, you can get a visa for most countries at the employees expense.

e3 visa in the usa is one.
