LAN Business Class from Sydney to Auckland from $727 Return (Lie Flat, Dreamliner) Dates Jan/Feb Including over Valentine's Day

120

Substantially cheaper than any other business class trans-Tasman flight, and it's on a Dreamliner.

We've played around with most dates in February and it's showing, but perhaps for some people the appeal of flying in Business both ways over Valentine's Day would tempt them…

Airline: LAN
Plane: Dreamliner
From: Sydney to Auckland, New Zealand
Dates: Jan/Feb, many days available
Flight: Direct
Time of day: Morning departure, arrive afternoon
Alliance: OneWorld

Example over Valentine's Day:

Feb 13 to Feb 16 - http://bookings.beatthatflight.com.au/flights/SYD1302AKL1602…

IMO it's not worth paying double over standard economy to fly business on a ~3hrs flight.

    • Thanks for your opinion

        You are welcome.

I totally agree, that said there are some "special" people that refuse to fly anything less than business.

There are also lots of people that would rather be more comfortable than spend half that and be a bit less comfortable.

      • Well, 7 voted up and 5 voted down my comments (so far). People are willing to pay 75% more (see my comment below) to upgrade on short flight.

Not everyone flies on off peak days. Not everyone books Jetstar $300 return flights a year out.

I’ve just booked return flights to AKL with Virgin Fri/Sun was $600 return in economy. $100 more for Business is happily pay.

Is this deal include the same date you booked? $600 SYD/AKL return in econ sound like peak season.

There's why I said "double". $700 business vs $600 economy is a good deal for a 3hrs flight, but would you paid double (in your case $1200) to upgrade on a SYD/AKL flight?

As I've mentioned below SYD/AKL return on AirNZ is $337 on Feb13 to Feb16, same period as example in this deal.

If you are flying SYD/AKL next month and paid $600, you paid too much…

    • Where are these comparable economy fares with a full service carrier with baggage included for half the price? Please tell as I’ve been searching for months.

      • I Google "sydney to auckland flight prices". AirNZ is $337 return between Feb 13 to Feb 16.

        • They charge for baggage over $100 return

@[Deactivated]: Interesting… I'd expect AirNZ to be a full service airline.

Had a look at AirNZ site on SYD/AKL flight, a "TheWork" (aka full service) fare is $40 more than a "Seat" fare one way, bring return price to $417 return. So pretty much same price as Qantas. This business class deal is still a good $300 (75%) more - IMO still not worth it.

There's also "Seat+Bag" which cost $20 extra for one-way which bring the total to $377 return. For a short 3 hrs flight, I have no issue to go without food/drink and use my phone for entertainment.

I'd more than happy to pay double over economy for a longer overnight flight for a lay down seat/bed in business class.
