  • By the way, Old galaxy tab current sale at price $360-$369.
But I believe it's price will reduce more after new version released.
Consumer digital products' price always reduced more in future.

WARNING - NO SD CARD SLOT on this thing.

      2 words… Asus Transformer.

      • Thanks Stumo
Is there any HTC variants coming soon?
I know Toshiba is releasing one…

        • Toshiba, Motorola, asus, acer, you name it, they all havr dual core 10"ers now/in weeks. All are better than this in almost every way.

eg. Asus Transformer with IPS screen for local rrp $599, or US$399 if you import.

Can this really be considered a bargain though? Looks like their regular pricing.

  • $39/mo for high end android device is standard.
Usually you get specials for three months free, which comes to $35/month.
Hence I would say this is not a deal.

Plus, IIRC they were saying on the radio (JJJ) that vodafone was voted worst telecommunications company in Australia (yes, worse than Telstra). From memory vodaphone actually publically acknowledged it had problems.

Also, I struggle to see the general value in paying for this AND a mobile phone (assumedly the customer base this is appealing to are already on a phone contract)! Does it have a sim card slot?

Wait. Isn't 10.1v the fat version of the Galaxy Tab? After Apple introduced iPad 2, Samsung revised their tablets and released 2 much thinner tablets named 10.1 and 8.9. I'm fairly certain that this is the older Galaxy Tab 10" version (meaning the pre-iPad2 version and no I'm not referring the to the 7" Galaxy Tab from 2010).

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

    • 10.1v was going to be the new 10"er from samsung. It wasn't even out yet and they canned it. Called it the "v" and removed the microSD and gave it to vodafone. Much better options around.

    • The newer Galaxy 10.1 Tab will be lighter and thinner than the iPad2 and have a Micro SD slot. That is the tablet to watch out for. The post above should be moved to the forums, it has been up on Vodafones site for weeks. Not a bargain just regular pricing.

  • I can almost confirm that this is the old version. The new version doesn't have a 8MP camera on the back. It only has a 3MP camera on the back. This Vodafone version is definitely the bulkier one. Specs for the new 10.1 here:

    http://www.tested.com/news/samsung-galaxy-tab-101-and-89-off…

    • Its not the old version. This has tegra2 chipset.

The one you link is the new new version.

      • No this definitely is the old version. You said no sd slot. That's correct. Because 10.1v has no sd slot.

        10.1 has an SD slot.

Edit: Ok. In any case, this is the heavier version with no SD slot. Whether you choose to call it old or new. I'm sure this is the old one though. The one that was first announced was a Honeycomb tablet with no sd slot and heavier with 8mp camera. And then iPad 2 came out, Samsung updated the tablet and made it with TouchWiz, sd slot and lighter with 3MP camera. Dunno how you're getting that 10.1v is the newer version.

        • Yeah I think the term "heavier version" is better.

Its hard to conceptualize that something is "old version" before its even available. Way to go Samsung.

      • Yeah stumo. I was linking to the new one. When I meant 'I can confirm that this is the old version', the 'this' was referring to this deal.

  • even if its a good deal a 3G device is pointless on Vodafone network.

    • that's true since u cant really use the data cause its so damn slow!

As someone who regularly uses Skype and Steam without any problems on a VF 3G plan, I would have to respectfully disagree. At the very least, YMMV.

This maybe a good product, but its normal pricing, so by definition its not a Bargain, moved to forums wher its more appropriate
